Has anyone gone to a great animal science summer program for high school students? (Acadia Institute of Oceanography, Cornell University Summer College, vet camps, etc.)
Anything from summer college to wildlife/marine rescue/rehab to research opportunities, volunteering, traveling, etc. - what have you gone to or heard about? If you went, what did you get out of it? Would you do it again? Please share! :)

I’ll research a bit more and post A LOT of information tomorrow,so just wait a day. lol :p

UPenn has a Summer Vets program for HS and College students, a separate program for each level. Application deadline is in April, I believe.

I haven’t been, but I heard that there are some at Texas A&M.

okay srry it took so long but Tufts has one and so does University Of Georgia. You can ask local vets for an internships,no mateer what u want be it large animal, equine, exotic, etc, and your local humane societies/rescues. A wildlife rehab center is also a good place to volunteer with animals. Also Auburn,NCSU,Missispi State, and Clemson University offer summer vet camps.I believe Uc Davis also has one for low income students in the area. The USDA has a free summer program that’s like two weeks and it’s residential. offered at multiple universities. It’s called AgDiscovery. Good Luck! :]

STEM(Science,Enginnerirng,Technology, and Math) programs are also beneficial and can be rewarding for someone wanting to go into vet med. Here’s a list of them:

If you live in California, I’d recommend the SMASH program by the Level Playing Field Institute. My sister’s an alumni :D. The program is for low income students and it’s a 6 week summer program in the math and sciences. You apply when ur in nith grade though and it’s three years, but you don’t have to stay all three. It’s held at Uc Berekley and Stanford(for Nor. Cal. students) and UCLA And USC (for So. Cal students). It’s also has college prep and counseling too. It’s rlly great! I reccommend the USC And Stanford ones. Good luck! Hope this helps! :S
