High School Awards?

What are some of the awards that are given out at most high schools?(Which are the most recognizable ones?)

For example...
I'm not sure if these are presented at a majority of high schools, but:
Jefferson Award (for public service)
Cal Boys/Girls State nomination

PS. I'm in California

My freshman year I think all of the teachers had to pick 2 students from all of their classes to get some letter. My world history teacher picked me and it was like most outstanding world history something I think. I dunno I can check again, but I don’t think that’s too much of a big thing. We don’t really have that many awards since there’s only about 1000 students total, which is really small compared to California schools and all the other places. There are academic letters if that counts too I guess since you get a certificate for it and everything.

a) 1 Honors & 1 Scholarship (the students with the two highest grades, respectively) for each class. This takes the majority of the time at the ceremony.
b) Yale/Harvard/Dartmouth/etc. Book Awards
c) [I forget what it’s called] An award for being the most creative/academic/leadership-oriented person (1 per grade).
d) Other stuff =P

I think we just do the book awards. We have Yale, Harvard, Dartmouth, and maybe 5 more.

What are these Ivy Book Awards?

bump…

bump. anyone?

At my school, each of the five main academic departments (English, Math, History, Foreign Language, Science) chooses the top student (non senior) of the department.

(I somehow picked up 4/5 last year, I doubt I’ll even get one this year…)

There’s recognition of all the academic competitions and who won which essay contests, quiz bowls, and all of that stuff.

Then there’s the top student for each department/subject area.

Then there’s the book awards.

I managed to get 7 this year, including the Yale Book, no idea how…I wasn’t expecting a single one.

They never give anyone at my school more than one book award. I got the Bryn Mawr one. Everyone was jealous of R, who got the Northwestern one because he got not one book but two, and a plaque. I was especially jealous because, come on, I’m the only one whose parents are paying tuition there.

wow book awards are so nice and useful. Did you guys see the Duke Book Award?! So nice! Williams College’s Book Award was pretty cool too.

There are awards for those who make honor roll. That’s really nothing special since so many people get regular (3.0+) and distinguished (3.5+) and that’s for weighted GPA’s too.

The only other award they give out is an excellence in _______ Award. This could be history, English, science, world language, leadership positions, clubs and so on. Only two people get an award per subject area. Therefore it’s more worth mentioning.

My school doesn’t have book rewards. I don’t know what that is.
