At my school, decreasing property values (I'm guessing these are going down because of our slow recovery from the recession) of the surrounding areas have led to a need for the county to decreasing funding for all the schools. They recently increased the official high school class size from 26 to 29, and 10 teachers from my school alone have been laid off; they also aren't hiring any new teachers to replace them.

I'm very glad to be graduating this year. The school is already pretty crowded and with fewer teachers for more students, it's only going to get worse.

Anyone else experiencing anything like this?

You see, my state lowered class sizes, then fined like 13 districts hundreds of millions of dollars (or was it billions?) for not being able to comply.

My local school district (that I do not attend) pays teachers 13% above the state average and says that they need more money.

I go to a private school where they spend less money per pupil than the local public schools do. Other than the charter schools.

My sister’s school, a charter school, is desperately lacking funding. They only get between $2500 and $3000 per student. The other public schools get more than $10,000.

But we call my school the ghetto private school. They have never once gone into debt and are very stingy. It’s very difficult to get money/funding for anything. Our largest benefactor/school founder/owner of a billion dollar company/person who used to be on Forbes just died as well… so things are probably going to get tighter. Glad I won’t be around.

My state is cutting funding all around, and not in a very good way if you ask me. The state is in up rise. I’ve never seen anything like this here before.
