I’m not visiting. I’m just too busy. I’m definitely going to visit after I get in, but I don’t want to fall in love with a school I’ll be rejected from. Also it’s a lot of money and generally seems pointless.

I would visit if I was doing ED somewhere but my family is going to need to compare financial aid/merit awards anyway so I can’t ED anywhere.

<a href=“Home | Dartmouth Admissions”>Home | Dartmouth Admissions;
Also, yeah you can apply ED to Dartmouth and EA elsewhere.

^ I love Harvard’s campus. Except I feel like it’s not even worth it to apply since they’re so selective.

Ahh I love Harvard too! I’ve been there cause my grandpa works there and a lot of my extended family lives in boston so I’m in the area alot. I’m doing SCEA there cause I’m a third gen but I’m not getting my hopes up gah.

Quick question—
is anybody currently taking AP Bio and planning to take/have already taken the Bio SAT II? I’m also taking Chem and Lit in June, so I’m going to have to choose only one Bio SAT… Based on the AP Bio curriculum, would I have a better chance at E or at M?

I’m taking Bio M, just because my AP class hasn’t even gotten to the ecology chapters yet (50-55 in Campbells I think) and we really stressed DNA and all of the molecular aspects. I would ask your teacher though. It’s really personal preference.

I’m going to TRY to visit Ball State, Ohio Northern, Otterbein and Baldwin-Wallace next month, but who knows if it’ll pan out? Most of my schools I’ll be visiting when I actually audition for their musical theatre programs, so it’s not a big deal if I don’t get down there before I apply.

I’m taking US and Bio (I think M). We did Molecular a long time ago so I’ll have to review a lot, but we barely got into Ecology so it’ll be a lot better than that.

Where is everyone applying?
Me:
BC
Duke
Gtown
Notre Dame
Pepperdine
St Olaf
Minnesota
Wis Madison
Vandy
USC

^I feel like we’ve been through this many times

I feel like our class is rather inactive on CC - there was a thread on the class of 2013 being lackluster - what do you think? I’ve heard that the NMSF cut-off is gonna drop a few points this year generally as opposed to last year when there was a small increase (but I don’t have a source to back it up, so I guess we’ll have to wait a few months until we can see for sure). Do you think that could foreshadow that the upcoming admissions cycle will be comparatively laxed? Because that would be nice.

^that would be amazing. I mean I doubt it’s a nationwide thing in actuality, but now that you say it, I am basically the only person in MY high schools class who has a chance of getting into an ivy (but who even knows about that…). Do any of you feel similarly?

Lol no. There’s always like 15+ people who have a shot at an ivy at my school. Last year 16 ended up at cal, a couple at Harvard, three at brown, and a bunch of people to some other places. My school’s pretty competitive though.

I don’t think admissions will be any easier, at least not tangibly easier.

Yeah, I don’t think going up from 5.9 to 6.1% s gonna make any real difference. At my school, I’d say the top 10% stand a good chance of getting into an Ivy. Usually, the top 10% get into top 20 schools in the US and the UK.

I’m pretty sure everyone from my school last year got into Harvard, with a class of 57. One kid got into Princeton or something instead.

^lol what a failure.

Are you still in the Midwest? You should read The Omnivore’s Dilemma. It’s about corn.

At my school hardly anyone goes to top schools… I think we had one kid go to Brown like 5 years ago, and one kid to Harvard like a decade ago…

I hope I’ll be the next one at a top 20 school…

@Tightend We’ve said it a couple of times, but here’s my updated list…

MIT
Gtown
BC
Wesleyan
Harvard
Yale
Williams
Amherst
Brown
And some safeties.

Same, my school is pretty mediocre in terms of admissions. We had one kid go to Brown this year, that was our only Ivy. My older siblings are the among the few over the past ten years to go to Ivies. We had a like two or three Harvard in the past few years. Not sure if we’ve ever had Yale or Princeton…

Oh and I think I’m gonna be the first person in the history of my school to even apply to Williams. Not sure if that will help or hurt.

Lol I’ll probably be the first to apply to most of my schools. =p

my school usually sends like the top 4ish to ivies/top schools and then a lot go to top 20/30 schools and SUNY schools… i’ll be the first to apply to duke in like 5 years though
