High School Class of 2013

Has anyone startered doing summer homework? hahaha

So, my college list right now is looking like this:

UNC

UNCW

Davidson

Wake Forest

& that’s it, hahahah. I need to find more options.

Oh, and Columbia just for the hell of it.

Does anyone else feel really… Out of place in their high school class in terms of college plans? In the top ten of my class, everyone is just aiming for schools like Texas Tech and Texas A&M, not to dog on those schools or their students. However, I’m aiming for Ivies and the lower top schools (Notre Dame, Vandy, Berkeley…). I feel so out of place, and the school certainly isn’t used to having a kid with those kinds of goals. Maybe that’s why I’m on CC so much, haha.

I’m new, so I suppose I should get postin’

College list right now is completely in-state (I’m a homebody!!)

 1. UW
 2. Gonzaga
 3. WSU
 4. UW Bothell

UW is my absolute dream. Man, I could go on and on about it, but i’ll save the details ;)

@JordanSaidWhat: I do too. All of my friends want to stay in Florida. Those who don’t were convinced out of going OOS by their parents. Their parents told them that their dream schools were out of reach. (Which I think is ridiculous, but whatever) Everyone is aiming for UF, FSU, FAU, etc.

Just got back from my brother’s Brown graduation. It’s so nice. It really has a great spirit that I think would be cool to be apart of.

@Mystical: Nope! Not yet. The teachers haven’t even finished grading this years exams. They probably won’t have the summer work for another week or two. Hopefully before I leave the country…! :P

Lol… CSIHSIS, no one here is suggesting community college for anyone.

I wish Vanderbilt would give me a CV scholarship. Never gonna happen, but I can dream.

@JordanSaidWhat: I feel the same way… I’m in a suburb of KY, and go to a pretty good public school but most kids only want to go to either UKentucky or U of Louisville, or some other public state school. But usually every year we have at least a few people go to top schools. This year we had one MIT, a Davidson, a M. Holyoke, and maybe a few people going to Centre. Also, year since I’ve been going to my school we also send one person each to Vandy (I don’t know why, but I think Vandy tries to recruit people from my school, I’ve gotten tons of college spam from them and they don’t even have my major).

I pretty much and really hoping I can get into some OOS schools, because I want to be an Architecture major and do a 5-year program and all of those programs are OOS anyway, because U Of K only has a 4-year program with no accreditation.
I’m looking at a lot of schools at the moment and hoping to shorten my list but I would have to say my top 5 now are:

Syracuse

RISD

Pratt

U of Oregon

Cornell (but I really don’t think I have a shot getting in lol)

@Rayna I got out the 18th and they were pretty much handing us the URLs of the Summer HW when we walked out the door, I have 6 books to read. x_X

The top five at my school all have ambitious plans, though none of us are going to get in anywhere.

@CSIHSIS, when you say ambitious plans what do you mean? Like Ivies?

SENIOR YEAR! SENIOR YEAR!! SENIOR YEAR!!! WOOT!!! Honestly CANNOT wait…
Meanwhile, College board is bombarding me with tests… APs, SATs, SAT Subjects. Then there’s the ACT smh.
I already got my list together: JHU, UPenn, Carnegie Mellon, Duke, Penn State, University of Maryland, Baltimore County (Meyerhoff Scholars program), University of Maryland, George Washington University!!! I will be a Bioengineering major (soo excited!)

BTW is anyone taking the SAT Math II subject test on June 2nd? Are you using Barron’s to prepare. How do you like it? How well are you scoring on the practice tests?

If you’ve already taken the test and you used Barron’s to prepare, how were your practice test scores compared to your actual score?

ughhhhhhhh my college list… I like too many schools… )=

I’ve already said my list like a thousand times, but I still want to apply to CMU, JHU, UPenn, Dartmouth, Bowdoin and Middle Bury…

Which would make my list 21. LOL

@Myraven11 I was, but I haven’t studied for it AT ALL, so I’m probably not…

@Lesley I have a big list too, but I don’t think I would have the time to apply to all of the 20 odd programs I have on my big list. Too many supplements/ home tests.

Yeah, that’s something else that would suck… Doing all the supplements. ^.^

Plus I just don’t have the money to apply to all of them too. Lol

Yeah, some of the costs to apply range from 50 to 85 dollars! It’s crazy.

Yeah! =/ If it was like $30 a piece, then it wouldn’t be too bad…

Ugh, and then there’s the additional money you have to spend on sending your scores -.-

@myraven I got a 630 on a Barron’s test but an 800 on a CB official test. I really like Barron’s but it does make me feel terrible about myself, at times.
