High School Class of 2013

Yeah, but it’s not called just women’s studies because there’s a few units on gender identity, masculinity, in addition to that women stuff.

Also, she threatened to make me read the whole Quran when I caught her reading it for fun. She claimed she was going to make us annotate it. She loves talking about women’s roles in the Middle East and child brides, for some reason.

I dunno, i’m mostly looking to become a little less ignorant about the world and about gender identity, because it’s a prickly subject for a lot of people. One motivation is my ignorant Republican parents and my slightly bigoted dad.

er-hem n-not that republicans are narrow-minded or anything like that.

also I wouldn’t say it’s my passion, mostly that other people give me crap for it and i’m like “wait, film analysis/interior design/the underwater basket weaving elective you chose isn’t useless? ಠ_ಠ”

mostly i’m just laughing that i’m getting +.5 to my GPA for this while everyone else isn’t getting anything

Yeah that’s me too!

Also, is that really your schedule? That’s awesome.

I suppose that’s a nice idea  I just feel like teachers of those classes tend to sort of impress their opinions on the students without meaning to

@msteiny; yup! And woo, another person from MA, where you at?~

@stressedouttt; yeah, I know how you mean (my mom already complains of conspiracy theories because she thinks all of my teachers are ‘hip young liberals’ who have meddled with my brain chemistry and brainwashed me into a moderate), but fingers crossed that it’s going to be a great class. I know the teacher really well (moreso than I care to admit…) and she understands people have different opinions so she tries not to force hers on other people, but I find what she has to say interesting. I’m mostly worried about the people IN my class, there’s a girl I disagree with on EVERYTHING who’s a nasty youknowwhat to me, and a lot of other girls in the class just sit and chat all day, while the other half are quiet and will never talk. It’s…going to be kinda interesting, especially last period.

Fun fact. Yesterday I learned women can’t drive in Saudi Arabia. I think that sounds like an interesting-ish class, but I’d rather take it in college.

I’m actually extremely liberal, but yesterday I realized I’m probably a little too harsh on some religions (I’m an atheist), so to give them a fair chance I spent a while reading about lots of different religions (Islam, Buddhism, Scientology, Jehovah’s witnesses, LDS, and Evangelism). For the most part I learned some pretty shocking things, but I do respect Buddhism a little more.

spanish cinema?

excuse me while I die of laughter.

(unless that’s like… a serious thing… in which case I apologize)

New York! A little delayed, but yeah… And that’s a cool schedule, sounds like your school has much more variety than mine

About 30 juniors and 30 seniors got letters that we have to be a part of Link Crew this year. Anyone have experience with this? It’s like a welcoming committee for the new freshmen. (Which I think is really dumb but whatever.) The only enjoyable part will be seeing friends and getting free food, honestly. But we were told we have to train for the event for two days. 10 hours of training for a 3 hour event seems a little extreme to me…

very srs bizness. movies w/ subtitles. english. subtitles.
it comes after spanish IV therefore it’s supposed to be srs. (it was the alternate choice to AP which I chose not to take)

I have to say though, I took the cultural counterpart to it this year and we watched a bunch of movies, the movies were excellent. It’s not watching english movies in spanish, but watching authentic spanish films and documentaries, which are actually really interesting.

and i’m not going to lie, the first movie in which I saw full-frontal nudity was in this class.

at any rate it’s an easy A…

@above; to be honest i’d kill to do something like that. you make it sound so bad that you “have” to do it, while at my school everyone has to claw each others eyes out to become a peer leader/junior mentor, so yeah. I always find it amazing how things can be so different from other people’s point of view.

@Elleya - I’m in a suburb about 15 minutes outside of Boston. How bout you?

oh goodness I am too.

direction-wise, which way? (as in, NE of boston, south, etc.), don’t want to give out too much info!

omg guys there are creepers out here!!!11!1! :O

But anyway, got my schedule ‘fixed’ during registration yesterday:

  1. ap calc ab
  2. ap micro Econ
  3. ap lit
  4. ap physics
  5. ap gov
  6. lunch
  7. ap psych
Early out during 8th period. My only complaint is no spanish 4 because of the conflicts, but what/ev. I can deal.

AIGHT WE DONE CREEPIN’

/sneaks off to PM

also, needs more APs. 6 is not enough. needs many, many more.

^I bet you’ll have fun with that

basically i’m having one of those moments where it’s like “oh god I am not the only person that exists in this world”

or at least “oh god I am not the only person who uses the internet within a 5-mile radius of my house”

okay we might live in the same town i’m a little freaked out

Haha for real. So weirdddd.

pretty sure it’s either the same or the one next to it

brb hiding forever, my internet anonymity is in danger!

nah. unless Elleya is your real name

oh naw.

but it turns out we basically live down the street (5~10 minutes), which is pretty cool. we don’t know exactly which town but there were roughly 2 to choose from, so we used our ~super detective skills~ to figure it out.

tl;dr: we r smrt

I’m going to finally start on my AP Lit homework. 12 days seems like enough time
