High School Class of 2013

I mean, something like a dozen people/class here go to the local CC. Whatever. They’ll figure out what they really want later on, I guess.

I just don’t like to belittle people in any way. I had to go to work early because a guy I work with texted me to cover his shift, so I took it without hesitation. During that shift my friend pointed out he was probably too lazy to do it, because the shift kind of sucks. It didn’t really occur to me and that didn’t strike me as fair - maybe he had a doctor’s appointment or whatever. Maybe he didn’t want to come in early. I know most people wouldn’t.

So hey, someone wants to shoot small, they can. It’s their life. Sometimes it makes me sad that I want to do really well and some people around me don’t feel the same, but it’s not my business. I think it’s rude for people to assume you aren’t interested in shooting for the top, though, but some people have a limited view of the world. It’s not their fault.

Our year is coming guys
What universities is everyone planning on doing Early Decision for?

All of 'em. But not ED, EA.

I worry I might just be rejected instead of deferred, though.

The colleges I want to apply to don’t believe in early action for whatever reason.

Except for Northeastern and Binghamton.

It was such a beautiful day :) Amazing…

Also Good Luck to Elleya and iRachel in the admission process :):):). Am applying next year (junior).

Ooh, it was indeed. And thanks! (and good luck to everyone, ever lol).

@yankees; I like how half of my list is the same as yours, hehe.

Half? Your list only has 4 schools? o.o

I’m only applying to 4 colleges (if that many). While you guys are trying to find out how many acceptances you can get, I’ll be seeing how much money I can get. I’ve narrowed down the schools that I’m a match for and a strong candidate for their scholarships.

Citation Needed

^It’s more paranoia for me, honestly. I have 5 reaches that I love. But I have 6 safeties/matches. I’m so paranoid I won’t get in anywhere. The 5 reaches I’m applying to, offer full scholarships based on my parents’ income. If I don’t get into any of them, and I need my safeties/matches, they’re half as much. I qualify for about half priced tuition/whatever other fees there. And then the rest will be covered by the scholarships that I apply to that are unrelated to merit or financial status. (There are grants/ scholarships for almost everything.)

Yankee…I didn’t mean it like that I pretty much summed it up. In all honestly I didn’t mean for it to come out like that.

I meant the majority of people on this site are applying to 8+ colleges. 2 or three safeties, matches, and reaches each. They’re applying to as many schools that they want to go to. I was comparing that with how Im trying to get the most money out of it.

Plus (just like above) people on this site usually respond to seeing less than 5 colleges as, “only 5?” or “why aren’t you applying to more?”

I respond to that by saying “why more? I know I’ll get in”

I still have no clue where I’m applying. All of the school though will be EA. My thing is I fell in love with a few schools in CT and then realized they aren’t part of my region… (For teacher certification) so yeah… So far though my list has

~Pace (Top choice at the moment)
~SUNY Oneonta
~LIU (Not sure which campus yet)
~Sage Colleges (SAFETY)
~SUNY New Paltz

and maybe a CUNY idk which one yet though… I visited St Rose and Cortland but didn’t like them. I may apply to st rose b/c of money reasons

I am going to visit Hofstra on monday (think I have really good chances b/c they’ve been contacting me nonstop, and I’ve gotten numerous personal letters & emails so idk)

And then I’m going to visit

~Manhattan College
~Wagner College
~LIU CW Post
~ Dominican College

And a few others I can’t remember at the moment…

So if anyone wants info on:

SUNY New Paltz
SUNY Cortland
SUNY Oneonta
College of St. Rose
CUNY City College
CUNY queens College
Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus)
Pace

Let me know!

@ Niquii 77

I’m just afraid that I won’t get in anywhere :frowning:

Besides I’ve gotten stuff from these school waiving the app fee if I go to an open house :P

That’s the way I’m looking at it. The more schools that I’m applying to the more chance I have of getting scholarships or a better FA package. I’m not applying to as many as I want to go to, but instead I’m trying to maximize my chances at getting the best deal possible. It’s going to suck when I get into one or multiple private schools that I apply to and then realize I won’t be able to attend once I see how much (or rather, how little) money they give me, or maybe I’ll get rejected and won’t have to worry about that. But either way I’ll suck it up and go to a state school that I will probably enjoy just as much, if not more.

I don’t see why someone would limit themselves like that, but if there are literally only 4 colleges you like then that’s completely different. I personally have around 8 schools that I would be happy to attend but maybe I’m just not picky with colleges.

@Jazzi Just have faith in yourself. Present yourself in the best light possible.

It’s not like I don’t know tht Ivies aren’t the most accepting. I know that.
But in my opinion 10+ colleges is ridiculous.

@Yankee it’s just my opinion. I don’t live in the north. I’m not surrounded by colleges. I’m not limiting myself since I want to live in the state that I’m in. I think that some people on this site blow it out of proportion when it comes to applying.

I do think 10+ is crazy… at 70$ a piece that’s 700 and you haven’t even done anything yet… I’m hoping I can stick to my favorite 5/6 (including safeties) for EA and if all else fails I’ll apply RD to other schools.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to stay in state. So in your case it makes sense to have a small list. But I wouldn’t be so quick to pass judgement about why others are applying to more schools than you.

I want to stay in State! Well within a pretty small radius/ tri state area. I love the seasons, although I could go w/o winter… But I love sweater & boots season :)

I’m not passing judgment, though. There’s a lot I’m not saying mainly because there wouldn’t really be a benefit, but not beig judgemental.

On another note:
Today in school, when the bell rang and everyone was exiting the building I was in, I overheard a girl say this, “I know. I’m happy I finally got sunglasses dark enough for my eyes. Since they’re so light everything is so bight when I go outside.”
Now when I heard this I thought of her having near albino looking eyes to be reflecting all those rays she was talking about. Well I angled myself to look at her eyes and she had freaking brown eyes. Not light brown. Not hazel. Coffee brown eyes. So much for having near albino eyes :/

@Jazzi I would love to live in a state that has distinct season. Colorado is my dream state and I WILL love there sometime in my life. But not for college ;)

My friend’s friend has half a pupil in his left eye.

Weird, huh?
