High School Class of 2013

I’ve finished the common app (all my colleges are on it) and have completely finished the applications for four of my ten schools (two of which don’t call for essays in their supplements). I don’t really know when to send them in. For my EA school, I’m probably going to try to get it in in the next few weeks. The rest of them should be sent in like late November/early December, I guess? Ugh. Anyone else applying to Brown? So many essays in that supplement :(

I don’t plan on starting my AP Lit summer work today. School is Thursday.

I’ve cut a lot from my college list. It actually looks like a normal (non-paranoid) person’s list.

-Brown (still not even sure about it. I don’t like the campus but I love the Open Curriculum)
-Duke
-NYU (those are my 3 reaches)
-Pace
-CUNYs (CCNY, Brooklyn, Queens, Hunter, and Lehman. But they’re all under 1 application/1 application fee)

 • UMass Dartmouth and UMass Boston (2 different apps and 2 different fees -_-)

I’m actually perfectly content with ending up at one of my safeties or matches too. =)

That’s good, Rachel!

I just want to go to UM or UF, though I am applying to other colleges.

I have a friend who’s at UF, she loves it. I also know someone else who goes to UM. She really loves it too. My little sister badly wants to go to UF. She’s been talking about it since 7th grade.

Yeah, I have friends at both colleges, and they both say that life there I great. I’m so overexcited for that acceptance letter. (If I get one 0.o)

My friend keeps beggin me to go to UCF, but luckily they don’t haven’t major :)

Yeah, don’t go to UCF. Just don’t, lol.

Stetson is nice. (It’s in FL too) If I had to go to a FL school, I’d probably choose Stetson or UF. Stetson sends me a lot of stuff. You’re allowed to bring your pet if you go there.

Rachel what are you going to do about housing??

Stetson? I haven’t heard of it…goes to look it up

UMass Boston is the only one without on-campus housing. I’m not exactly sure what I’ll do if I end up there. (I checked to make sure all of the CUNYs I’m applying to offer on-campus housing. I had to nix York because they didn’t.)

Dude, Rachel. I’m kinda excited about CUNYs too … which ones are you applying to, if you don’t mind me asking?

In order of preference, CCNY, Brooklyn, Hunter, Queens, and Lehman. What about you?

For me just city & queens.I didn’t know lehman had housing, last I looked it was under a pilot program and only had 19 rooms, If that has housing I’ll apply there. I refuse to go to hunter although they’re a great school for my major, because housing is a nightmare!

Really? I didn’t know. That’s what sucks about not being able to tour them. (I’m in FL.) Thanks for letting me know! 8)

I’m going for City, Brooklyn, and Hunter. I’ve heard it’s hard to get into housing at the CUNYs, since there’s just not much space, but (fingers crossed) I might have a place to live off campus in NYC anyway.

no problem. Lehman has link to like city living or w.e but I looked at hunter and their housing is combined with Columbia plus they don’t get preference. The other options are like hotel rooms which need to be paid more often then regular room & board… also if you get accepted to CCNY housing is not guaranteed so you have to get the deposit in quick!

Not to be “that guy”, but what are CUNYs? They sound interesting…

and housing at CUNY’s are hard b/c they were commuter schools (they still are but they are getting rep, thus the lack of rooms becomes apparent) so the housing was just never put into place. Queens did a good job with the rooms, but other CUNY’s have private separate buildings like CCNY’s housing is a good 3-6 blocks (depending what part of the actual academic campus you’re on)

The thing that I kind of don’t like is the fact that because they are all commuter schools the big ra-ra sports is nonexistent

no…no, it’s ok anyways…there’s google…I’ll find out on my own.

They’re the City Universities of NY.

I looked at the website and it gives you a link to EHS. If worse comes to worse and I can’t get on-campus housing, I can always do that.
