For senior year, is this waayyy too one sided towards humanities/languages?
AP Literature and Composition
3 Trimester English classes (Romantic lit, lit of sci fi, and lit of war)
AP European History (or AP Statistics)
Philosophy
Spanish IV H
Spanish V (or Anatomy and Physiology)
Filmmaking

I really want to double up in English, History, and Spanish, but then I’d have filmmaking as my elective and that’d be my schedule… I want to major in East Asian Studies with a minor in writing/creative writing.

@Woeishe: do you think Japanese colleges accept AP credits?

^ The International Ones most likely do, and the Global 30 probably do too, but you might need to ask them about that. That schedule works fine, as it appeals to your interests. No black holes will develop in the universe because of the lack of math/science classes on your schedule.

^ haha are you sure? most colleges like to see 4x4 (or 5x4)… meh… >_> thanks~ we’ll see what happens when the time comes

Edit: If I took (and did well) on AP Japanese as a junior, got up to Spanish III H in junior year, do you think it’d look bad if I took French III H instead of doing Spanish IV H/V? Or both… hm…

^ Actually, no, I’m not sure. I could care less about what colleges like to see. It’s not ethical that I have to suffer through subjects I couldcare less about to appease some group or old men, but you should take one math/science class just to be safe :P

I was thinking: AP Literature, trimester literature classes, AP Euro, Philosophy, AP Psychology, Spanish V, French III H, and filmmaking.

Can you see the nice little niche I made there with literature tying together with European philosophy and history (and then psychology), and European languages? Ahaha it’d be awesome if I could pull them all together in a KA essay.

^ The classes do seem to tied in together… I want to skip French III and take C++ Programming, but our schedule are locked as of now and I can’t change it D: I wonder if Japanese colleges even care about languages other than Japanese…

you guys are all always talking about taking ap classes, I could never. But I do want to take SUPA Psyche. It sounds interesting.

Im legit all over the board, A’s,B’s AND C’s. I try to be hardworkings but I just have a major challenege of focusing. Its really interfering with everything.

^ Honestly, I could care less about High school. The language classes are definitely jokes. “Holy ****, I can put a random word in a little box, I must be a native speaker by now!!!” I hate the fact I have to learn just to regurgitate it on a test. Schools make you into a mindless drone with confidence issues. Most of the teachers are hardly qualified. Ugh. I hate high school. I wish my mom had the money to home-school me, then I could focus on the subjects I actually care about (Japanese, Computers, Music)

Yeah looking at all the chance threads you see 2300s and 3.9’s across the board but it seems as if the general consensus in this thread is that most kids aren’t super geniuses. I’m looking at 4 A-'s, a couple A’s, and a B- in Pre calc…

What is this? lol

and woeishe i remember whether in this thread or another you said you hate the notion of self studying…lol. I self studied AP Psych this year and for Jr year i’m selfing enviro, human geo, and macro. The whole idea is that I want to study stuff that I have an interest in that my in-school schedule does not allow.

^ I hate the notion of self-study because most students aren’t doing it out of interest. If it is for interest, go right ahead, but most students have an ulterior motive.

^ haha I know language classes most of the time is a joke.
I was thinking of taking Spanish V because at my school, it’s about things like books and movies in Spanish, which is pretty cool. I want to become proficient in Spanish… not fluent like Japanese, not conversationally without making a fool out of myself xD Same with French. I’d love to visit Paris (again) one day, and be able to speak a little French besides “bonjour” and “merci” lol.

I hope the classes get better as one goes up the levels, because classes only teaches one token phrases, and, honestly, one can’t learn a language from a textbook. Nope. Never.

EDIT: I might visit Paris one day just to see that ugly metal pole sticking out the ground. Wait…

^Everything! lol. More Japanese, learn Korean… Work on my plot for my novel (and eventually write it). write some poetry and short stories. Submit already finished work to magazines. Volunteer. Learn some songs on the piano. Maybe compose a song or two. Spend time with friends and family… study for SAT and some more Japanese. There are ~45 books on my reading-for-pleasure list. and summer homework.

^ My goals: More Japanese, finish school required projects, find job, finish pride and prejudice, volunteer, chill out. That’s about it XD oh and find a cheap guitar.

EDIT: Most of your goals can be extended into the school year. Pace yourself (:
