Oh, thank you guys for answering my q’s :D

If I took 9 tests overall, got 5’s in 8 of them and got a 3 on the other, would the three disqualify me from being a national AP scholar?

one test away from national ap scholar T___T oh well, to me qualifying for usajmo>ap awards

damn, you qualified for usajmo?
I qualified for AIME this year, I’m going to try to make USAMO and USAPhO semifinals next year :P

How’d you study for the AIME Urc? AoPS books and classes?

yup pretty much. got lucky on aime…or unlucky too, since aime i RAPED SO BADLY.
i wanna make usapho semis too! but i not good at physics…last year i didnt do too well on f=ma

Haha, did you take the AIME II? I took the AIME I and it was extremely rapey this year ![]()
I’m pretty good at physics, and its a lot easier to qualify for USAPhO than USAMO, I’m pretty sure with physics C and by going through fundamentals of physics I can make top 50 hpefully ![]()
Have you done unsco or usabo?

aassstttrrrooooo pretty please? :)

Haha I don’t know what you guys are talking about. Is all this math olympiad stuff through your school or do you do it on your own?

Sorry local, im not going to ![]()
Hollyandphoenix, a lot of them, like the amcs and the f=ma exam are offered by schools but if they arent, you can always ask a teacher to sign you up

class of 2013 FTW just thought i would drop in and say that.

yeah i took aime i…scored really badly. less than 1/3 of the problems correct. T__T luckily jmo index was low

i did usabo but got a 25 lol, so no semis.

Whatd you get on the amc 10? You must have done beastly if you got like a 4 on the aime and still made it

yes 10 char

Hi everyone! This is actually my second post, but I wanted to delurkify and introduce myself. I’m from Arizona, and I go to a school of about 2200. I guess that’s fairly large; I really don’t know. At the end of the first semester, I was ranked #2, but that’s really only because I was one of 2 who got an A freshman year in gifted honors English. Other than that class, I don’t think my school is…academically difficult. I’ll be honest and say that I care about class rank a lot (it’s really the only reason I’m taking Spanish 2 and Music Theory online this summer).

I’m not sure what I want to do with my life, but I’m thinking something with languages and linguistics. Linguistics sort of scares me, because not many schools offer degrees in it, and the ones that do seem very competitive. Last month, I went through my entire box of college mail, opened every single envelope and brochure, and wrote down the schools that offered linguistics. I only found 8. Now I realize that I only get mail from a fraction of the colleges, but that number scares me.

Hey guys. I have a quick question. My schedule for next year is:

IB English 1 HL
IB History of the Americas 1 HL
IB Math 1 SL
IB Biology 1 SL
IB Chemistry 11 SL
IB Spanish 1 SL
Entrepreneurship 1 (DECA)

Now, I was just recently accepted into a EMT program, and I need to take a EMT B class in order to ride in the ambulance. I have no time after school to take this class. In saying that, I can take a EMT B class through the school, but I would have to drop 2 classes, because the class would be at another school, meaning I would need 2 blocks to take it. I can still get the IB diploma if i do. but here is the schedule with the class.

IB English 1 HL
IB History of the Americas 1 HL
IB Math 1 SL
IB Biology HL 1
IB Spanish SL 1
Fire and Emergency Medical Sciences 1 (FALL)
Fire and Emergency Medical Sciences 2 (SPRING)

Should i go for the EMT and take the classes? Either was I can get the IB diploma. Im stuck. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you!

^^ I would do the emt class cause it would seperate you even more from everyone who is just taking basic ib classes. I’m doing the same thing by taking a rigorous ap class load, being in the top orchestra class(which is also one of the top orchestras in the country), class officer, multiple other clubs, as well as sports with the school and club sports! Life can get crazy but my college application will look amazing compared to others from my school! Unfortunately my school also happens to be the top school in the county and one of the top in the state so the diversity is needed otherwise you will not get accepted into your choice school!

What always drives me on is that there is someone else who is always working the same hard as me. So I think of ways to make myself separate from the group. So I think doing EMT is a good think like HHS2013 said. Go for it! :)

How do you guys motivate yourself I’m really losing motivation for just about everything in my life.

I’m having the same exact problem…

I suppose this is different based on what your intended major is, but the way I think about it is “hey, there are people who have been dancing since before they could walk and people who have already been on Broadway MULTIPLE TIMES who are your age. Get your rear in gear, little missy, or you don’t stand a chance.”
I guess, though, you could twist that to apply to anything, really. There will always be people who started before you and rose to the challenge before you. They’ve got their eye on the same prize as you do, and if you really want it, you’ll use every second you have left to gain ground on them. If you don’t, you’ll really regret it.
