@evanYou have no idea!! Seriously she gave us this awfully hard project that I spent hours on and my essay portion was 2,500 words… And then she didn’t grade them… Or give us completion grades… She never grades our test within a month… And she cries every other class because “she is stressed” it’s great oh and trig WILL be the death of me… Actually no… Circles may possibly be worse /: we just started them… Woo

@Jer: At least you didn’t end the semester with a B+! I did and it wasn’t fun. I got over it, but I guess I took it as a message to just push forward. (x

Are you taking HUG (Honors Unified Geometry)? I’m too lazy to go back and look. Lol.

Sweet, I’ve been awaiting a Class of 2014 thread!

My sophomore schedule:

AP World History
Chemistry
Physics
Math Analysis (basically Pre-calc and Calc AB)
Latin 3
Honors English 10
PE/Drivers Ed 10

I run cross country in the fall and play tennis in the spring. I plan to continue with both sports for the remainder of high school. I’m currently eighth on the tennis team, which is pretty good, considering it’s my first competitive year.

My sister is captain of the debate team, so she pressured me to join debate. I’ve found that I really enjoy it! However, in NFL (national forensic league), the public forum judges are required to be regular citizens (inexperienced when it comes to debate). This requirement has led to some… questionable outcomes. Anyhow, I plan to work really hard next year and make state debate!

I have a few questions for my fellow Class of 2014ers:

What is your passion when it comes to academia? Personally, I adore math and science. Ever since I was a child, I’ve excelled in these areas. In fact, I went to the State Science Fair this year! I plan to go pre-med in college.

Do any of you know where you stand in your class? We (the frosh at my hs) got our transcripts a couple weeks back. As it stands, I’m valedictorian! There are 333 people in my class. I’m very happy with what I’ve accomplished this year.

Where do you all want to go to college? I’m going to apply to UVA (since I’m instate), as well as HYPMS. I’m also going to apply to UChicago and Columbia. I’ll be sure to apply to a few safeties as well. My dream has always been Harvard or Stanford. I understand these are lofty goals, so I plan to work extremely hard over the next few years.

Finally, have any of your gotten your learner’s permit? I got mine about two weeks ago–driving is great! I’ve got about eleven hours so far.

I look forward to hearing your responses!

Sorry guys this app is kinda causing me to lose my mind…

I apologize I can’t remember the new posters ID but I’m instate as well and will apply to William and Mary and UVA for sure… I want to do premed as well science has always been easy for me, and I’m passionate about it!you sound incredibly well rounded!

@Absoluetly I actually did get a B+ and a low one :S I cried… So pathetic… I know…

@evanh I don’t even know what that means :0 it just says pre-IB geometry do you know how I could figure it out??

How big are all of you guys classes? I have 600 people in mine :0 gonna be an awfully long ceremony!! I have no idea about class rank I’ve never heard of it being announced at my school.

@Studious: Personally, I dream of going to Stanford since I’m on the west coast & my senior buddy just recently got admitted there. She inspires me to push myself, so I’m shooting for Valedictorian at my school by getting ahead in courses by taking Algebra 2 over the summer. I did however, received a B+ in Geometry last semester. I’m pretty doing well this semester & I’m going to maintain it. (:

Reposting… :
(Sophomore year schedule!):

AP World History
AP Biology
P.E 0 Period
Chemistry Honors
Physics Honors
Math Analysis Honors
English 10

** I guess I’m more of a history person. Diverse cultures intrigue me and a little bit of science here and there. I plan to join my schools Academic League, Decathlon, & Mathletes next year. This year… I’m such a bum 'cause show choir basically takes major time off my hands. I just love academics. (:

What is your passion when it comes to academia? I love foreign language, and history. Math is always good, but there are some things I enjoy more than others

Do any of you know where you stand in your class? I have no clue, but since I’m taking the most rigorous courseload available to freshmen, and I have gotten all A’s in my classes, I imagine that there are a lot of us tied for valedictorian our of 519. Idk if my school ranks by individual grades, or just GPA.

Where do you all want to go to college? I’m probably applying to Northeastern, UCB, BU, Cornell, UCLA, UVa, Vanderbilt, and then some safeties.

Finally, have any of your gotten your learner’s permit? Nope. You have to be 15 to get it where I live, and I won’t be 15 until September of my sophomore year. :(

@jereve – answered that in my last post without knowing you had asked. haha. I think that it’s the same thing. If so, then you’ll only be doing basic trig, which is EASY. Don’t worry about it at all. Circles should be easy, too. It’s basically just about pi. Except not really, but kinda.

@evan: I know the Valedictorian of the senior class at my school is going to Cornell! The sal is headed to Stanford. (:

@jer: Don’t worry about it, nobody is perfect. We can either run from our mistakes or overcome them. I was going to drop out of Geometry ACC 'cause I knew if I dropped to regular I could’ve gotten an A+ easy peezy. But I realized with the help of friends colleges may look at my transcript and say “Wow, a quitter who left accelerated to go to regular.” Haha, but I guess the fact that I have an A in Geometry this year shows improvement. That is as great as a student who has A’s in both semesters. (: !

Cornell is pretty much my dream! My senior mentor got into Cornell and honestly I think we are all smarter than he is jk but really… He isn’t the brightest, obviously there’s something great in his brain… But ya he didn’t have special EC’s or anything so I’m not really sure how he did it… But what do you guys do as far as ECs go??

I get my permit next month woo hbu?

Talking to you guys is refreshing lol I hang out with so many people who don’t have conversations like these… Ever… I am really learning a bunch cheers

@absolute–I have no clue who the val and sal are at my school, but we’re sending a good number to Vandy. Val last year went to Dartmouth.

For ECs, I do latin club, latin honors society, HEMSI Exploring (working in conjunction with local EMTs), working at the park near my house (does that count as work experience, or just an EC? I am getting paid). This summer, I’m trying to set up volunteer opportunities at the library and botanical garden. Nothing special.

Am I the only one that gets on here and freaks out when you see people like “my ECs suck,” and then you look at their stats and it’s stuff like, founded a volunteer organisation at my school which raised $60,000; published in international research journal; selected to speak infront of UN securities council on plans for nuclear disarmament?

Other freshies, finally! I was looking for a '14 thread the other day.

My schedule for next year is something like this:
- AP World History
- AP Environmental Science
- Honors Precalc
- Honors English II
- Honors Chemistry
- Chinese II
- Art II
- Art History

I’m so excited though, because I’m studying abroad next year! I get to be an exchange student for an entire year!

@bunny – Nice! Where are going to study?

@bunnywins I am soooo jealous :3 that’s amazing! I wish my parents would let me do that!

@evanh I know what you mean I thought mine were decent until I came on here… But I bet a majority of people don’t do half of those things… I mean really? I definitely don’t have those opportunities.

@evanh14 yes! i saw this one guy, he was all like “i got no EC’s”
i looked at his EC’s - he’s practically the town mayor with all the stuff he’s done

@kzo, @jereve – I saw this amaaazing thread where a guy basically got owned by a person whose kids went to the school his screen name suggested. I’ll post the link if y’all want. It was pretty great.

People like that make me want to puke…
