High School Class of 2015

my school doesn’t let us take APs until sophomore year and then you can only take like 2

@Political, so it’s basically like Model UN?

We don’t get to take AP’s next year.

I signed up for ap government. I heard people in 9th grade now telling me in 10th grade we will be allowed to take ap environmental science. don’t know yet. I have no clue about the g-c yet, except we adopted a kitten from his wife, lol.

I’d like to take economics ap. but my school does not offer it. period. my HS is not the best but I don’t have any choice.

Sophmore year and MUN.

Next year I am taking English, German 3 or 4, Biology, geometry, history of the medieval worlds, ceramics, orchestra, and compsci! These are all considered as honors courses as my school does not have ap. Higher level classes operate at a level higher than AP though.

i just discover CC today and now i’m kinda obsessed(:
i feel like a huge slacker seeing everybody’s ECs and courses!
my classes are:
honors english I
spanish II
honors geometry
honors world history 9
gym
honors bio
computer skills
theology I (required, i’m going to a catholic hs…)
writing (also required)
my school doesn’t really offer anything better…
i play piano, speak porteguese, student council VP…basically those are my only accomplishments. but in highhschool i’m planning on doing lacrosse, crew, cheerleading, spirit club, and model UN. nothing close to anybody else here! but everyone should read how to be a high school superstar by cal newport (i think thats his name…). it completely changed my idea of high school and kind of de-stressed me about that stuff(:

I have to say, my state requires two years of USH and 1 year of WH. However, our schedule goes USH(9), WH(10), USH 2 or APUSH (11), and optional social science class.

hahah, freshman. Alright, i have to take a shower. When i’m done i’ll post some very helpful advice.

Are you going to give us the advice?

Oh ****, my bad young lad.

Alright, first order of business, i’d suggest taking all the required classes freshman year. I didn’t, and i regret it. Next, i want you to play a sport. ANYTHING, as long as it’s a HS sport. It’ll help take your mind off school, and it’ll get you a cool group of friends. Third, i want you to take it easy freshman year. I mean, try to get straight As, but don’t stress over getting a 97. This is your easiest year, enjoy it!

Try to do something over summer, at the end of freshman year. Ask your counselor is she knows any good camps. Now onto your schedule. I know now, picking hard classes seems fun, but trust me, they’re harder than they seem. Only take on so much. Leave yourself time for a sport/ECs. Try to join clubs only for interest, don’t join for college.

Don’t join NHS/Beta club if you don’t want to. Try to get at-least 70+ volunteer hours freshman year. I’d suggest doing it at a hospital over summer. It’s fun.

That’s all i can think of off the top of my head. I might have more later.

Hello! I’m a rising junior, but I thought I’d pop in! It’s great that you guys are being so proactive about high school! Just remember that high school is about doing what you want, and pushing yourself to succeed. It’s a really exciting time and I wish you all the best! :)

That’s some good advice. I have 85 hours already of service, and my summers are filled with organized sports and academics.

What sports do you guys do? Do you do band or other sort of music?
I do clarinet. started oboe a year ago.

I’m a senior going on to UC Berkeley and my regret is that I was not hugely involved in any sports. I have a friend who’s going to Stanford and she had the grades, the extracurricular, but most importantly she had a passion for sports (mainly basketball and volleyball). I’ve had numerous people tell me Stanford (and I’m pretty sure other top schools) like smart, top athletes.

You know the good grades, good test scores, yada yada yada.

omg what should I do? I love school, I love music. I don’t like sport. I’m not good at it and I HATE it - no offense to all the good athletes here. I’m proud of you guys but I’m just not one of you. But my grades are great and my SAT is good at 7 and 8 grades. do I still have hope to get into a super good college? lol or col?

I’ll be going to BS…any others?

I play Trumpet, Piano, Guitar, Bass. I also play baseball, basketball, and football.

HEY!!! I’m class of 2015 as well. I didn’t think there were many other middle schoolers on CC!

Hey thenerd! welcome! We decided to get together to plan for HS. We’ll all be in HS soon. so CC shouldn’t discriminate against us. lol
