You all say you’re coming here for advice and I don’t think you understand that yankeesfanatic is giving it to you. No one is chasing you away, he was just trying to point out that there’s more to life than obsessing over college without singling anyone out. You’ll hear this advice from just about anyone whether it’s in response to you individually or just a general statement because of your age. Some people need to hear it, others don’t.

Anyway, I’m in no place to say much cause I’m only a sophomore.

Thanks for that. I think some people were getting overly defensive.

Yeah, I think they were kind of missing the point to my post. I wasn’t trying to get you guys to leave or not use CC or anything. I’m just trying to give my opinion as a rising senior, based on what I’ve seen in the past both on and off these forums.

So when are everyone’s graduations? Mine is tomorrow. I’m so excited but kind of depressed about it.

My school isn’t having a graduation ._. they’re basically just telling us to take our finals, leave the school and never come back xD

I’m not having a graduation. Sucks to suck.

Mine is June 13th. Finals all next week. This is review week.

You guys are all right, and it’s good that you guys are coming here for advice.

However, middle school is not “pre-college.” Freshman year of high school really isn’t either. I look back on middle school and it was pointless; math was rinsed and repeated every year until eighth grade. I mean, honestly, I could have taken Algebra I in the fifth grade and most kids on here could have as well. You’ll all see how middle school was largely filler material with some useful bits here and there. Freshman year isn’t much different, other than math which is always important. I feel like freshman year was the easiest of my life.

No one is “discriminating” either. We’re giving you advice, and if that advice is to not care about college right now, well then I think it’s pretty useful. I’m annoyed by this thread because, from what I’ve read, it’s mainly eighth graders clamoring to prove how their math track is superior to everyone else’s, or how many AP classes they’re taking freshman year. I think that annoys everyone, not just me.

You think I’m cool right? PLZ TELL ME YOU THINK I’M COOL. keepll

Welp, there goes my attempt to change the subject.

Last day of school is on JUNE 15th!!!

My “graduation” is June 20th, school ends two days later.

I put graduation in quotes because as my teacher puts it, “if you intend on graduating after June 22nd, then God help you because you clearly aren’t going anywhere in life.”

Hey Butterfly. Now go respond to my email! :)

All of my friends are going to a Catholic high school and I’m the only one going to the public school, with the exception of two guys who I don’t really talk to. I hate knowing that we’re probably not going to stay in touch after the summer, since we’ll all be so busy with high school. Anyone else feel the same way? :/

Meh, I never keep in touch with people over the summer. I just reunite with them on the first day of school, haha.

And my school isn’t having a graduation either. The eighth grade formal was tonight and tomorrow’s the last day of school.

^When does school start for you?

July 23. We’re on a “modified year-round schedule”. Most schools in our area got out last week and will start a week or so later than us.

August 8 for me. Why must it be so early?? Still way too hot at the beginning of August…way too hot.

Heh, me too. When I was younger we never had lunch recess for like the first month of school. Way too hot here. The entire month of August is ~110 degrees.
