High school class of 2016

lol i go to a private school with stuck-up people… and girls who complain about the stupidest things and whine when they don’t get the latest iPad/iPhone.

^Pretty much sums up most freshman girls at my school… all the freshmen are required by the school to have iPad 2’s… and at least 90% of the student body owns an iPhone.

also, my school places wayyyy too much emphasis on sports. it sucks, esp. when you’re not athletic (cue me)

My school is pretty ghetto too. It is one of the reasons why I cannot go to on level classes. I don’t not go to a preppy school but in one of my classes where there are preppy kids, I literally heard them complaining about their maids.

Outside of IB, my school is ridiculously ghetto, and the majority of non-IB kids are idiots and don’t care about their education. This-in addition to the fact that the standard curriculum is a joke, and the fact that the teachers are terrible-is why my school was under academic review for several years due to low test scores. The honors and college prep classes at my school are a total nightmare, which is why I have to stay in the full IB diploma program in order to receive a quality education at my school.

Mines not so bad of a school, there are a lot of idiots and people who don’t care but there are a good amount of people who do, so we have classes for those who actually want to learn like honors and AP. My school sometimes puts some dumb people in honors so they can fill up the class.

My school’s block scheduling system and the way classes are weighed drive me nuts on my ranking hahaha. Since I didn’t start any of my super hard classes (Honors Pre-Calc and AP World) until this half of the year, everyone who already took World and got A’s are ranked ahead of me for now when I’m actually ahead of them so I won’t know my real rank until June (sigh). I also don’t like the fact my school decides to weigh the higher bands as honors courses, yet not the higher choirs. And then, to complicate matters, I am auditioning for an outside the school day show choir class, which counts towards my gpa but of course isn’t weighted. This means that even though I’ll have a busier schedule due to this commitment due to the addition of a fifth class, my weighted GPA will actually go DOWN due to its regular class status. Ah well, such is a choir kid’s life :)

On greatschools.org, my school is rated an 8 out of 10. What about ya’lls?

My school is apparently rated 1/10, but the community rating is 3/5 stars, so that’s probably more indicative of what it should be. I’m guessing that this has to do with the school being on academic review at one point.

My school is rated 8/10 and the community rating is 4/5.

My school is the best private school west of the Mississippi river according to Forbes best college prep school list. It is a very materialistic school but everyone around you is also very smart and worried just as much about college as you do, so that is comforting at times.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using CC

My school is ranked 5/10 and community wise 4/5, I honestly feel that my school is only amazing academic wise but only to the top 300 students the rest either dropout or go to give.
How often do you guys procrastinate? And what’s has been the worst situation of it?
I procrastinate every weekend;I leave all my homework for Sundays. On weekdays I start on my homework at 7pm I finish until about 12pm.

I procrastinate a lot. If it’s not due tomorrow, I won’t do it. It’s an awful habit. My problem is that I work well under pressure, so I’m an arrogant ■■■■■■■ who only works when a deadline is looming right over my head.

The worst case was when I cruised all quarter long in English and had like an 87 in the class a week before the quarter was over. We had a big project coming up and I knew I could get some extra credit by going above and beyond. I did the entire project in one day. Started at 4pm and finished at 12am. Didn’t touch any of my other homework.

I procrastinate with pretty much everything, since I usually don’t feel any urgency to begin the assignments until the night before when I absolutely have to complete them. It’s a terrible habit that I need to get rid of for next year when I do the IB Diploma Program. The worst procrastination that I did was when I waited until two days before the 5-6 thousand word assignment that was assigned two months prior. I spent all day the first day and part of the second reading To Kill a Mockingbird, then stayed up until 4 AM completing the assignment. That’s the closest I’ve ever gone to pulling a full all-nighter.

I stopped procrastinating after I had to stay up till 3 AM writing a seven page bio report. :stuck_out_tongue: It’s so much more relaxing now haha.

I stopped procrastinating this year.

I’m procrastinating right now, I did half of a conic section project yesterday at 3 but did nothing the rest of the day.

I usually start on a project the day it’s assigned, finish about half of it, and then wait until the day before it’s due to finish it.

My attitude has changed so much from the evident type-a ness I used to be (hence my screen name hahaha). In fact, when given all of this spring break to do AP outlines, I’ve waited until 6 pm today to do them. Has this attitude impacted my grades? Not at all. So, in part, just chiiiiiilllll :)

pokes head into thread
Oh, gosh, am I lame. I just spent a whole hour reading 156 pages of this whole thread. I’ve been lurking CC since 6th grade (only out of curiosity not because of overachieving I swear) And because I’ve read all 156 pages of this, I figure it’s time to answer some questions that you’ve guys talked about because I’m lame and LAME. I’m Vietnamese, I go to a school in Southern California, I go to a school that’s majority Asian (SADLY NOT MAJORITY VIETNAMESE) and is full of rich and privileged kids, majority of the Asians here are really competitive </3, it’s ranked 9 out of 10 in greatschool, school’s pretty easy (except for PE because we had a state testing where we have to pass or ELSE =.=), my favorite subject’s History, I know about Reddit, I read John Green (I think Abundance of Katherines is the funniest book of his, Looking for Alaska is my favorite, and TFioS is the book I think that changed John Green 4ever), I came from a ghetto private Catholic school, dream school’s Berkeley. (I’ve visited some of the UCs before, UCLA is my least priority UC, but I’ve been to it a few times, it’s ~okay~). I take Korean in high school. There used to be Japanese in high school but then the Japanese teacher moved away and most of the Japanese students followed suit and left, LOL.
