High School Class of 2017

Hi @ky!! Glad to hear you’re doing well!

Good luck studying for all your upcoming tests everyone!

Thanks Elaina!

Blah. I just reread my sentences. I realized that I messed up. “Luckily, my IB coordinator says that there might be enough freshmen taking Algebra 2 Honors in Pre-IB [18] that could have a Pre-Calculus class” Currently loving my school. They purposely skip French II and Spanish II for Pre-IB Students but they split it among French I and French III so that way we can have French IV and Spanish IV for colleges. I’m thinking about going Algebra 2 —> Pre Calculus —> Calculus → IB High Level Math. I think I will find HL Math more fun than AP Statistics. Anyways. What tests have you guys have done so far?

So far, I have taken Biology Chapter 1,2 test and then we went to chapter 7. Note: I am sick of Organic Chemistry [Especially since my teacher was going indepth in it and explained how people in College usually claw their eyes at the sight of it. Then he starts talking about how medical position these days requires Organic Chemistry 2 as one of your college studies so yeah D: ]

We did a Human Geography Multiple Choice and another day we did FRQs which is suppose to be graded together. 50% and 50%.

In Algebra 2 Honors, we literally just skipped Chapter 1 and had a test then did chapter 2, and now we are in chapter 3. Mid-Chapter quiz is on tuesday on System of Linear Inequalities and System of Equations. Then we are going to get to the fun stuff /Cough Linear Programing/ I’m such a math nerd.

Drama: We took two quizzes already. One on Roman/Greek History and Stage positions. Its pretty fun. I thought it was going to be like acting but we do so many fun activities.

French: Learned all my numbers and my ABCs. I’m currently having difficulties pronouncing but I can read some kind of French now. J’ai faim.
Also my french name is Thomas. Yes I choose it myself XD.

English: We have weekly vocab tests and stuff. Sometimes I hate this class because I feel like we haven’t been learning much.

Needless to say, I’m happy being in a class with people ‘like’ me. Introverted but we somehow opened up to each other since I created a facebook page for Pre-IB students of 2017 [My school of course].

How are you guys doing? Oh yeah. Science fair makes me want to go die into a hole.

So depressing… I don’t wanna talk to you… Science is amazing…

Bienvenido!!!

¿Porque está nadie hablando? No yo se. :smiley: ¿Es mi español bueno o no bueno?

^ that’s probably gonna get taken down. I tried posting Japanese, but CC won’t let me type in another language.

Just realized something…3 out of the 4 AP Gov questions that I missed totally could have been prevented. 2 were “except” questions, meaning you had to pick the WRONG answer, and the last one was so blatantly obvious that I overanalyzed the damn question…why am I so dumb…

The question that I didn’t know was still kinda careless too. There was one answer choice that was true, and one answer choice that was partly true. I picked the partly true question…

I wish I could stop making careless mistakes on tests. I would easily have 98+ in every class if I just stopped being so anxious for exams.

It may get taken down, idk lol. But I used to/ probably still do make careless mistakes on tests. Though that’s only when I never studied (which was always) but I still did fine.

@yakisoba I used to make careless mistakes like that, too. I found that if you tell yourself that you know everything like the back of your hand, that helps because then you won’t doubt yourself.

You have to just believe that you know what you’re doing and go with common sense if all else fails :D.

I agree with Elaina. Basically saying, “Go with your gut”. No matter if you completely know the answer or not, follow that instinct. It’s certainly something I need to work on as well.

How do you guys like your class(es)? Teachers, etc…?

I’m getting my progress report this Thursday, but I already know what grades I have:

Geo H - 92%
AP Gov - 92%
Chinese - 99%
Biology - 98%
Lit - 94%
Intro to Engineering - 95%

So I got two A+'s, two A’s, and two A-'s. But I’m not worried about the A-'s because the bad grades were because I just wasn’t adjusted for high school the first month. I’ve been getting my s*** together and slowly but surely getting better and better scores.

On the bad side, I got an 81% on the first Lit essay. We had to write in this completely inane and arbitrary writing “formula” that the teacher didn’t even teach properly. That’s why the whole class got mostly B’s and some C’s I think. AFAIK one person got an A-. I’m probably a bad person for doing this, but I hate the person who got an A- soooo much right now. lol

It’s been a long time since I last posted on this thread and I was feeling a bit nostalgic. All is well for me. I’ve been slacking off in World Geography so much that I’ve already got an 88 in that class but other than that, I have 95+ in every other class. I just find anything to do with Social Studies really hard to pay attention to. Not to mention the fact that I always do my homework at the last minute. I’m starting to think I procrastinate too much. Since I haven’t posted in a long time, I’m sure the people that I originally talked to in this thread haven’t been very active either so hi to the new people that are probably not very new but they’re new to me. I think that made sense…

Got my first drama quiz back! 100%! Yay! Going to be handing in my first marked assignment for Geography tomorrow morning, a little nervous, it was a pretty straight forward assignment but I always feel like I could have added more to it lol. Anyways, did everyone had a good monday?!
@Joindate Welcome back then! :)

@yakisoba aww that’s a bad habit, you shouldn’t hate someone for doing better than you. I am actually in a very similar situation but I know I don’t.

i am such a huge procrastinator!! but i do my best work at night :frowning: and then feel like a zombie during day time… i should do mineee

@joindate hi :D

Everyone on here seems to be doing great! I only have 1 “a-” in algebra 2. I am .4% away from an “A” though, so I’m not too worried.

It’s homecoming week for me! Anyone else?

@bingington yeah i overexaggerated, im just jealous of the A-.

@Elainajulia Wow, a 100 in Drama? In middle school we were required to take Drama, and it was so hard for me. I’m not anti-social or anything, but I can’t go up on stage and perform.

@Join

Welcome back! XD

Stressful, it’s the 3rd week of school and I only have 3/9 class averages entered into my grade book. But here’s what it is so far, though let it be known that there aren’t any core academic class grades entered yet except for humanities;

Humanities: 100

Spanish 2: 104.17

Research: 100

Lol, that Spanish grade is going to go down for sure, but that’s just me being pessimistic. Lol. And LOL Yakisoba & Bing! I kinda still do procrastinate, but I kinda got over it. Lol, don’t ask how.

Thanks for all the warm "welcome back"s!

@Elainajulia It’s homecoming week in my school as well but I’ve never been interested in any of that jazz so I’ll pass.

I’ve been wondering what clubs I should join this year but I haven’t really found any that really interest me. I’ve been thinking about starting my own club about anime and manga, seeing as so many people in my school like it and all. Now I just need to get up the nerve to ask my English I teacher to be our sponsor/babysitter. She’s into anime and manga too so I thought she would be the best person to ask. I really like the sound of being owner of a club…

Besides that, I’m also going to volunteer at my local public library because it’s right across the street from the school I’m attending. What extracurricular activities are you guys doing this year?

Just got a 103% on my Algebra II Quiz. F*** YEEEEEEAAAAAH

Now I have a 94% in math.
