High School Class of 2018

So, Freshman, how has your year been so far? Do you like high school?

It’s really difficult and different from what I am used to, however I like it. I think I will finish out the quarter with 2 A- and 1 A in my regular classes, 1 A- in my advanced math, and 1 B in AP Bio. I’m nervous about the B, but in my mind, it’s only 1st quarter and only your semester or final grades go on the transcript sent to colleges. Am I in the right mindset though?

Well so far it’s been moderately easy. But I think I have freshmenitis. And I’m having trouble hanging out with friends. Like all the friends I’ve made have other friends who the l they hang with. But my grades are A’s

Freshman and Sophomore year are the easiest by far, once you start taking AP classes, however, it’s best to take them related to your major…and when you want to be a teacher…it’s kind of hard.

2 AP classes 1 b, a bunch of borderline A’s that hopefully stay A’s.

What is math club/team? Is it interesting or fun? I have a b in algebra 2 but I’m getting better

Hi! This are my current grades:

Honors English - A
Honors Bio - high B (will probably be higher by end of the marking period)
Honors Geo - C (I know - terrible teacher)
Honors Latin - A
Technology - A
AP US History - B (in my gpa it will be an A)

How does this look? I want to get into a really good college. Any tips? I also am in SGA and Cross Country.

@GCN844‌ APUSH as a freshman O_O

Are you guys taking PE? :o I don’t have to this semester since I took it in summer school, but I do have to next semester :<

Is a 3.68 GPA good? That’s what I have first quarter, but I am attempting to raise it for 2nd quarter. I am taking 1 AP class, 1 Advanced class, and the rest regular. Those are the only advanced/honors allowed at my school freshman year.

Sorry change that to a 3.62

@winter21‌ Semester grade is what’s calculated into your GPA and shown on your transcript :slight_smile: It’s the grade colleges see. So if you bring them all up to A’s they won’t know :slight_smile: Unless your school has block schedule, because a quarter is a semester grade in that case (I think).

@LosingCrayon you just made my day a lot better! I just really hope I can get those grades all in the A-range!

@LosingCrayon‌ Honestly, I don’t have much trouble with apush. The chapter reads are horrid and boring, but if I read the whole chapter and take notes, I’m good. Just took a test and got the highest grade in the class!

Biology and Geometry are different. Biology is very interesting, but is harder then APUSH for me. Geometry is easy, it’s just the teacher. There are no other honors geometry teachers in the school, so I can’t switch out.

English is so easy. I love it.

Latin is okay. Kinda hard.

Technology is basically study hall. We have to write random essays about random things some days, and the teacher grades weird and gives everyone a 85.

@GCN844‌ Congrats on getting the highest grade! At my school APUSH is a junior only class :(

I stalk every single High School Class thread.

Anyways, block scheduling GPA is at the end of the semester. So, technically, I could made straight F’s, and then make straight A’s, and that is what will be in my GPA.

@LosingCrayon‌ are you asian?

@Ollieos‌ Half… :-/

But it’s not really an Asian country known for it’s “smartness” or whatever. My Asian relatives aren’t strict about grades or what college I get into.

lol @LosingCrayon‌ are you involved in any clubs or activities at your high school?

@Ollieos‌ I’m getting a little creeped out :<

Not really honestly. I was in so many clubs in the beginning of the year, but then I quit debate because I wasn’t interested anymore. And I couldn’t join Science Olympiad because I was sick every day of tryouts and when I emailed one of the teachers in charge, he just ignored it… Now I’m really just in French club, the volunteering club, and some diversity club, all of which don’t meet often at all and are really weak ECs. But when academic bowl starts in the spring I’ll really try to make it in so that it doesn’t look like I did nothing freshman year :)

o: I think I’m Class of 2018
