High School Classes Question

Hi, so im currently in high school and i was wondering what classes i should take. My school offers AP English 11 and 12, people say you only need to take AP English 11 and AP English 12 doesnt matter, but im not sure. Also, my school offers SPT (Student Planning Time) in which you do homework. It is about an hour long and i dont know if i should take that or another AP class instead, would that hour really help on the homework. I am taking all AP classes also. Also, do colleges look down on classes solely dedicated to homework?

Ok, well there is no 'AP English 11" or 12. It’s AP Eng. Language and Comp. and AP Eng. Literature and Comp. In some schools AP Lang. is taken Junior year, while AP Lit. is taken Senior year. Some schools do it the other way around. The reason they say you don’t need AP Lit. is because it focuses mainly on content and British texts, while AP Lang. focuses on writing techniques such as diction, syntax, and tone, things which are helpful in college.

You should take both either way, because they’re both fairly easy APs and if you do bad on one test, you can do well on the other and still get concurrent credit.

Study period sounds like it’s for people who REALLY have time management issues. It’s not very impressive on your transcript. Just take a good elective instead.

Some universities give different placement or credit for AP English Language versus Literature. Check with the universities you are interested in.

^I disagree. I would have jumped at the opportunity for a study hall (if only competitive applicants at my school did the same; you should be keeping up with your peers in terms of course rigor).
