I need some ideas for starting a high school club. I realize it's still the summer but I am thinking ahead for college, and I feel I need to be more active at my high school. I am mainly posting this to bounce off ideas with people and to get some insight as to whether or not any of these clubs would interest anyone. My ideas:
-tutor program at lunch and maybe after school to help people struggling in school, focusing mainly on freshmen
-Big sister/big brother program (this would take some work, but it's an idea)
-Women's club (focuses on the role women have in society along with some fundraising for abused women in foreign countries (just an idea)
-Book club (self -explanatory)
-A club that saves animals from cruelty( includes fundraising, maybe some volunteering at the local shelter etc...)
What do you think? Does any of this interest you? Is it worth the effort? Thanks to anyone who replies!:)

You should create a club that other’s will want to join, but won’t need to do much work for. (For the average student, if it seems like a lot of work just to be in the club, they won’t even bother.)

Start like an environmental club or something like that.

o ok, what about the tutoring idea though?

I am serious about this, any more ideas/opinions?

That wasn’t cool. I do a ton of work for Roots & Shoots at my school.

Form a club with the help of your friends. It’s a lot easier to work with people you see often, especially if you have similar interests, and your club will be much more productive if you comfortably can talk to it’s leaders and tell them to stop slacking and get to work.

O, I talked with my friends, and I am hoping they will at least support me and join. What do you think about the tutoring idea though? I am willing to do most of the work, but it would be nice if other would contribute too. I suppose that’s where my friends come in:) Anyway, I agree, my school already has an environmental club and I’m not too fond of it:<

Bump…PLEASE!

You should do it on something you would willingly work on. Something like, “Hey! I could plan some fundraising or do some more research about [insert club name here]” even when you could be playing video games or going on CC, because that means you’re truly interested in your club, and it’s better when the leader is enthusiastic about the club, because that gets other members enthusiastic.

Interesting…well I am enthusiastic and willing to do the work for all of the ideas I listed, I was just asking if it was something you were interested in, something that others would get involved in. There isn’t any reason to start a club no one will join, that’s why I listed those options to see if it interested anyone. I appreciate your opinion but it is the summer, I am not at school, there isn’t much to do except plan and ask for opinions:>

Make an interesting club. At my school I created the comedy skit club. We choose to meet at a member’s house, then we make skits.

Keep in mind that the average student (the student who is not trying to buff up there college r

O, ok, that makes sense:> Thanks:> Good idea, I do want to get a lot of people involved and they might not be as interested in some of the things I am. My only question is with the tutoring club. Wouldn’t an average person want to get help? Maybe not, any ideas on that? Thanks!

Last time bump…

lol Warts. I’m bumping this in case it doesn’t know what to do

Muggles in Denial. Best. Club. EVER.

Or a pirate club! At the College of Charleston, they have a club where people dress in Pirate costumes every week and go volunteer in the community. Hehe, that’s their Pirtate Club. Irony at its best.

A tutoring club would look really awesome if your school doesn’t have a tutoring program in place already. Personally, I think the book club would be most fun, but I’m a bookworm :3

I would probably do the tutoring club, but that’s just me. I love helping people out (although at my school, it’s not a club, it’s just called “tutoring”).

I lol’d.

Try something based on an academic subject; those are usually straightforward

The animal club sounds like the one that would be most successful (at least, at my school). Maybe because my school just started an animal rights club. There’s got to be some interested students eg. vegetarians, animal lovers, and just make it seem like something that isn’t too intimidating for students to come to.

I would make a tautology club to make a tautology club.

Warts, I’d like to see you create a club at your current high school…!
