Hi, if I use a different address when applying to college than the one listed at my high school, will the high school find out/ will I have to tell them about it ahead of time, etc? Or is there not really much communication between the college and the high school?

What do you mean by using a different address than the one listed at your high school?

Um, the answer really depends on circumstances. In our state there’s a chronic issue with parents in “bad schools” towns fabricating an address in a “good schools” town. When caught, the parents are arrested. On the other hand, if your parents just moved across town, then maybe what you can do is list last month’s street address and then rent a PO box for mail.

Yeah, we’re planning on moving soon (3 monthsish). So, by the time I send in my college apps, it will be iffy which house I’ll be in. and then, what mailing address and all. Can I just put my new address for college (by the time I get replies, it’ll be that house), and leave my old address with my high school? Theyre not going to be like, ***, why are the addresses different?

JMHO of course, but in this circumstance I’d err on the side of caution … make sure the addresses match. If it’s clear you’ll be in the new house when the college applications go out, then get the school to change the address it has for you. If you’ll still be in the old house, use that address and have the post office forward your mail when you move to the new house. If the new house in not in the same school district, well that’s a problem.

No, different school district, but it doesn’t matter because it’s not a public school. Can I change my address after I get into college? Like have the mail about admissions forwarded to the new address and after I turn in my applciation and get accepted (hopefully), change the address then?

“Can I change my address after I get into college?”

Ah, private school. Go for simplicity … which basically means don’t switch in the middle of college applications season. Sure, you can change it after you get into college. Good luck with your applications!
