My daughter just informed me she was interested in switching from 'regular' high shcool classes to cyber school...which my district offers. She will be in 10th grade this coming year. I have a big concern on how college admissions would view a diploma from a 'cyber school' over a traditional school. Does anyone have input? I'd love to get feedback on say the top 2-3 reasons pro and con. Of course she waited 4 weeks until the semester starts to drop the bomb so I'm eager to get as much information as possible as soon as possible. Thank you.

If she gets 700+ on the SAT2s (Bio/chem/math etc) and gets a good SAT I don’t think it would be detrimental to her as long as she could still find good ecs

I’m sure your daughter knows the pros better than I do, so I’ll just cover the cons.

Does this program give her grades, a transcript, and a legitimate high school diploma? Will she be able to get the instructors to write her letters of recommendation? All of those things are pretty important.

More importantly, though, does she have good reasons for doing this in the first place? If she just doesn’t want to show up, she’s going to have huge adjustment issues when she gets a job and she can’t just say “nah I’ll do it online”. You should figure out why she’s doing this, and make sure it won’t still be a problem in 3 years.
