<p>Hey, I just wanted to take an informal poll, because I've been wondering about this topic for a while.</p>
<p>I know in most "movie" high schools, people have "popular" kids who drink and smoke and party on weekends, but my school is nothing like this. I've never encountered a party with alcohol since I've been in public school. Our thing seems to be smoking weed. It seems like schools are either "drinking" schools or "druggie" schools.</p>

<p>Public city school.
It's not really prevalent, but some of the kids drink or do drugs. There's some kids that are just "stoners"...it just depends though. I'm not really a part of that.</p>
<p>I don't know. We certainly aren't a movie type high school. It's way too large for there to be anything like a hierarchy. When it comes to drinking, I've only heard a few people who actually admit to doing it, but a couple people I've seen were smoking pot.</p>
<p>Public in the suburbzzz.
Drinking is semi-big here. We don't have huge house parties that everyone attends, but many people drink in smaller (10ish people) groups.
Pot is pretty popular.
I neither drink nor smoke.
People from all different "cliques" do both- jocks, idiots, nerds, band geeks, drama kids, etc.
Actually, my school isn't excessively clique-y. Most of the groups overlap.</p>
<p>We've got every type: the major druggies, those who go and get drunk every weekend, those who drink but can handle themselves, potheads, straightedge, etc.</p>
<p>And I go to a small private school (in a city).</p>
<p>I go to a small rural school, and although there are some drinking and drug problems, they're really not prevalent at all. Once in a while you smell alcohol or pot on somebody, but that's about it. It's a bigger problem at some of the other schools in the area, but mine's kind of in a bubble.</p>

We have all types of people.
Smoking weed is pretty big, so is Alcohol.
There are a few "big parties" a year (school yr) where there is alcohol everywhere. </p>
<p>I'd say about 75% of the kids our school have drank alcohol, and about 45-50% (actually, its probably a little less) have smoked.</p>
<p>As for me, I've done both.
Alcohol for the most part, smoked twice.</p>
<p>EDIT: And A LOT of the Persian kids (and some Indian kids) have smoked Hookah.
Another EDIT: I've never seen any of this happen at school, all of it is outside of school. Occasionally I see a couple of kids that are high. I've never seen someone smoke/drink at school though. People here are smarter then that (I'd like to think)</p>
<p>Public suburb-y school
The drinking and smoking scene is way more prevalent as people get older. I would say freshman and sophmore year maybe a few smoked weed/drank. By Junior and senior year most people have tried alcohol/weed at least once and there are always parties/people smoking weed. But that could just be my own sheltered view.</p>
<p>I'm not really part of the "scene" but I do go to parties/hang out with people who smoke weed. Just not excessively.</p>
<p>Well the alcohol/drug scene is typical I guess. The slackers/hipsters all smoke weed and drink. There are also very few who do heavier drugs, but definitely not many. Usually all of the jocks and "popular" types drink and some smoke weed, and then this year there are a ton of random people who I would never expect to get into it getting wasted all the time.</p>
<p>I think the general trend is that the older you get the more you party and it becomes less of a big deal.</p>

It's not extremely prevalent, but I think a lot of people have tried drinking and weed.

Not really, but I've tried them a couple times.

Stoners (obviously), and people from all cliques have either tried it or do it occasionally.</p>
<p>Public (magnet only) school and we have a high percentage of both. Mostly because our school is like college when it comes to work load and class difficulty so a lot of kids use it as an escape. But, we just had this rly sad assembly where people who've lost their kids and siblings to drug overdose. 2 of them only took one methodome (sp?) pill and died. One kidd was that person with a smile on his face that made everyone feel good and he took cocaine, 4 and a half methodome pills, and marijuana. ANother lost both of his brothers to drugs and drinking and he almost went down that path, too. I think it was very inspirational. I've always been against drinking alcohol and doing drugs and this just magnifies it even higher.</p>

we have both. not many do more than weed/regular cigs, but there are some who do coke--I know a girl passed out before my AP World class last year.<br>
on the other hand, a LOT of kids at our school drink. like, a LOT. </p>

no. well...I'm kind of one of the few people who end up being the bridge between the nerds and the more social kids (like I never know who to invite to birthdays because a lot of my friends wouldn't get along w/ each other), and a good number of my friends drink, and a couple guys do weed/smoke. If I really wanted to, I could drink...my parents keep alchohol in the fridge not even giving a thought to the fact that I might want to drink it. I'm not into that though. </p>

drugs--usually either emo-type kids or the typical jock/slut combination (this isn't as prevalent in our school though, there isn't just 1 popular group or something)
drinking--anyone from any group. I know complete nerds who drink.</p>
<p>Back in my days at high school, no one did either. Everyone just had lots and lots of sex (in really odd places) to compensate for it, apparently.</p>

no, at least not on school grounds. i mean at dances, there might be a guy who brings beer, but usually drugs/alcohol isn't a problem on campus.</p>

Most of the upperclassmen drink, lots of people smoke weed, lots of people chew or smoke cigars or cigarettes , every other drug from acid to meth is available. Lots of people smoke ciggarettes in the parking lot. People come to school stuff drunk or high a lot.</p>

<p>This makes my school seem really bad but it really is ok its just that drugs and stuff arent viewed as a big deal (atleast by the students).</p>
