For anyone to accurately chance you, we would need:

HS GPA

What you’ve done since dropping out

Subject test scores

If these factors don’t weigh heavily in your favor, I would say that your chances are minuscule to none. Otherwise, you may have a shot, but I would say that it’s going to be incredibly difficult, more-so than it would be for any other applicant.

I only completed two years of high school, and I believe my GPA was about a 2.5.
Also, I’ve only taken the ACT, and scored a 30 (30W, 36M, 30R, 24S).

Since then, I’ve worked odd jobs (drove an 18-wheeler, worked for a greedy corporation, etc.)

My main “extracurriculars” are:

Started own city with own municipal government and started own dot-gov website
Patented an invention in under two hours
Helped set up MySpace (it is located in a major city in a secret location–that’s where all the servers are kept, and I saw the whole thing and met the people there)

I dont want to be mean but you have absolutely no chance of getting into any of those.
Those are 4 of the best schools in the country. You have to have around a 4.0 to get in. There not going to accept someone with around a 2.5 who was a drop-out no matter what your ACT is. Also things such as setting up MySpace aren’t that impressive.

I think s/he means me. My background may look a bit strange, but I’m not a ■■■■■. I was just curious to see if having a non-traditional background could possibly offset deficiencies in certain areas. If it matters, my GPA from high school is for the two years I attended before dropping out: 9th and 10th grade.

At 1st i thought he meant me b/c it was directly under my post, but now that I think about it someone with a 2.5 asking if they will get into Harvard/Princeton/Yale does seem a bit strange.

Yeah…those schools might laugh at the GPA and chuck the application in the garbage just for that. Hopefully they won’t, though. It was because of some bad academic decisions and loss of motivation in the 10th grade. I’m hoping some of the other things in my nine years since leaving high school will be emphasized more, though.

Ivy leagues are ridiculous…maybe think about going to a community college for two years, and then transfer out somewhere. Ivy leagues rarely accept transfers, but i’ve never heard of them excepting GED students. If you can get into an honors program, hold a job with a good, leadership position, and get straight A’s, you have a shot at several good universities(UCLA, Cal, NYU, Dickinson, among others). But honestly, not any ivies. They’re so competitive that even your story wouldn’t hold against a high schooler with a 4.5 gpa, 34 ACT student with 2 varsity sports and a part time job. sorry to tell you this.

those schools might laugh at the GPA and chuck the application in the garbage just for that. Hopefully they won’t, though.

umm…im about 99.99% sure that they will. Honestly, I have no idea why you are even thinking about an ivy league schools. dannav147 has some good advice.

people are so mean. schools are always trying to balance out their stats and fill quotas, so you never know unless you try. maybe a really great essay could help you out? best of luck!

Hey man, you dropped out of HS in 10th grade, lived through a lot of crap, and you are making the comeback of a lifetime. What do I see? the potential for a killer, and I mean killer, essay. Speak of your “revelation” or “epiphany” and you could earn some real bonus points. I don’t know how good your writing ability is, but if written good, this could do some damage.

Your scores are good (not for Ivy, but good). I don’t think Ivy’s are the right way to go. But you can definitely try some other universities. You can get much better than community colleges.

The extracurriculars are real…no joke. I’m just not sure what to do because my ACT score seems pretty mediocre for the top places and my HS GPA is not too great. Maybe retake the ACT and write a good essay?

^^^^Dude, nobody patents anything in two hours. It’s not remotely possible. Please clarify, and give us the patent number.

Second what city is this that you founded? Again, sort of hard to believe without details.

I suppose the MySpace thing is possible, although you would have been around 18 years old. I don’t even know what you really mean by this, and I’m certain MySpace is currently located on multiple servers in multiple cities.
