I took Gen Bio 1 and Gen Bio 2, as well as Gen Physics 1 at a local state university the past three summers. Would these classes count in fulfilling my med school requirements, or would i have to take higher level classes?

They would count.

With this said, if the college you will attend is more “recognized” and your local state university is known to have a higher percentage of not so competitive students, it may be to your advantage to take “enough” classes at your new college to more fully demonstrate your academic capability.

If your local state university is a flagship state university, there is no need to do this.

Thanks for the quick response

I didn’t take the lab to Gen Bio 1 the summer i took the class. I know prerequisite to almost all Med School is 2 semesters of Bio + Lab, what class would i have to take to fulfill the lab prerequisite?

^^Bio 1 lab taken separately (some colleges offer it), or an upper division bio course with lab will usually be acceptable.

That being said, just know that taking prereqs over the summer is frowned upon by med schools. Courses are generally easier due to the lower competition and the material gets truncated (even the Profs want a summer teaching load break).

Many advise not to take requirements in a summer even at your college. Cannot tell from experience, D. did not take single summer class in her life.
