High school Econ competitions?

Hi all-
I (rising senior) took AP Macro this summer and I think I really like economics - especially the policy parts. Most of the sciences have some kind of high school competition (IChO, IBO, etc), but I haven’t been able to find anything related to econ. I know there’s a team competition, and I’m planning to try out for my school’s team, but my high school is insanely competitive, so I don’t think I’ll get it. Is it even worth showing my interest in econ considering I’ll be a senior next year and I’m still planning to major in STEM? Are there any real extracurriculars related to econ?
Thanks!

Yes, there sometimes are competitions relating to economics for high school students. Look online for your state’s council on economics education. Sometimes these competitions require a team from your school advised by your econ teacher, but sometimes there are individual activities like writing an essay or making a video.
