high school ECs

Okay. My ECs are definitely the weakest part of my app. The only things of importance are beta club president, nhs vp, and eic of the school newspaper. i've done about 200 hours of tutoring/volunteering at the library and battered women's shelter but i feel so inferior when i read different posts on this site. i know my list is kind of sad, and it worries me to no end that i'm a rising senior and can't do anything about it now.

i know you don't know the rest of my stats, but will something like this really hurt my chances?

Well you don't lack in the community service department - if you do get into Davidson and you qualify for financial aid I would consider filling out the Bonner Scholarship Application - in fact mention you plan on doing this in your app. I would keep doing the community service (taking leadership positons where possible) and show that you could be an all star in that department. The thing with Davidson is that you don't get in by not having anything wrong with your app, you get in by showing that you are talented / bring something to the school / go above and beyond the other apps that have nothing wrong with them.

When I toured Davidson with my daughter a few weeks ago, the admissions officer went through an ordered list of what attributes were most important on an application. They were as follows: 1. rigor of hs curriculum; 2. how well you performed in hs (grades); 3. writing ability (based on essays mainly); 4. standardized test scores; 5. extracurricular activities

Note that ECs were last. He specifically stated that you should not worry about what your Ecs were very much just as long as you had participated in something you really enjoyed.
