High school freshman "college tips" letter

Hi,
Today I got a letter in the mail from the University of Minnesota offering me a guide to college admission help. I don’t live anywhere near Minnesota and have never attended on of their programs. I’m also a freshman finishing my first quarter of high school. So, should I get the guide? Is this legitimate interest from a college or just trying to get a kid to form a connection to the University so they’ll apply later? Does the University of Minnesota usually do this?

P.S I’ve also received something similar from Creighton, if it matters.

They got your name from somewhere (have you attended any pre-colleges or taken one of the standardized tests, by any chance?) and have sent you some of their preliminary marketing materials. My kids have gotten tons of those well before they applied anywhere. It doesn’t mean much, but you can use the opportunity to look into UMN if you want.
