I'm looking at my high school gpa, and my entire gpa from freshman-junior is being held down because of my freshman year grades. i was stupid and immature, messing around freshman year. without freshman year, my gpa looks decently good. Do you think nyu will see my gpa (w/freshman yr) and throw me out without looking at the rest of my application because i did not make "the cutoff gpa"? although my sophomore and junior years both show an improvement, i really don't want to ruin my chances just because i screwed up freshman year...
Freshman Year: half B's, half C's
Sophomore Year: mostly B's and A's
Junior: Mostly B's and A's

*again, my main question is based off of whether or not they will throw me out automatically because they see my gpa with freshman year included.

Taking most AP and honors courses is almost a prerequisite for consideration. I’m sure a 3.6-3.7 would be good enough for NYU, but I’m not sure.

GPA W/9th GRADE (9-11): 3.28 WEIGTHED
GPA W/O 9th GRADE (10-11): 3.8 WEIGHTED
as you can see, my freshmen grades hold down my gpa ALOT. i’m wondering whether NYU will only look at the 3.2 gpa and cut me cause i don’t make the gpa cut. will they see that i have dramatically improved in 10th and 11th grade?

If you need a lot of financial aid, you are not aiming for admission; you are aiming for a large merit scholarship. NYU’s need-based financial aid is unlikely to be sufficient for a needy student, although some foolishly take on huge amounts of debt to attend.
