High School Grades for Applying to Med/Dental School

Hi I am currently a High School senior and am pretty set on applying and going to dental school and if not, med school after undergrad. I kind of slacked senior year and am now taking AP Calc AB, AP Bio, and AP Gov, and AP Econ. Here are the grades i got first semester.

ap calc ab - C
AP BIO - B
AP Econ - B

i talked with my brother and he said that when applying to grad, they will look at the AP courses you take in high school and look at your grades. he said the C in calculus is gonna kill my chances and that i am going to have to retake it at community college. do i need to do this? do my senior AP grades really matter?

Thanks,
BT

AP grades are not shown, only credits (if you chose to use them).
