High School Grades

Hi everybody,

I have a question to ask about my high school grades. I am an international applicant. At my school which is 9-12, for some reason don't consider grade 9. All my official transcripts only contain marks from grade 10-12. I am wondering if this will be problematic for the schools I am applying to (ivy + MIT, Cal Tech, Stanford). Do I send in the transcript with only 10-12. I'm wondering if there will be problems with the required amount of courses. for example, I will have taken 4 english courses, and 5 math/calculus courses once done highschool, but only 3 and 4 will appear on the transcript. I don't think it will be a huge problem because the courses are clearly called math 10, math 11... so it will be evident that I have taken grade 9.

Thanks

This will be a problem for a lot of top colleges. Don’t be fooled - even if they say they don’t take your freshman year grades into account, they still look at them to see what kind of classes you were taking.

Since you’re an international though, and you’re taking classes called “Math 10” and such instead of A-Levels or IB, you have basically no chance at getting into any prestigious US universities anyway, so it probably ultimately doesn’t matter if you send your grade 9 transcript or not.

ok, but my school does math 9-12, then ap calculus

@Conner - Ignore this statement.

As for your problem, you had best talk to your school counselor and find out what can be done.

Lol yeah.

10 char

THanks, I thought that might be wrong, even though ap/ib help.

Ask your counselor to write a letter including your 9th grade classes, grades, and the school policy of not including gr.9 in the oficial transcript. Harvard and the Ivies are well aware of the differences in international schools. Good luck.

ok thanks.
