High school help

Hi. I would like to be a biomedical engineer or doctor(psychiatrist) and I have a question on what electives should I take. Also, I will have a Spanish 1 credit - Should I continue Spanish or switch to Latin? I heard Latin helps you for language arts and SAT(vocabulary and writing).

Thank you very much. I will probably have more questions based on your respective responses.

Take whatever electives and language you want to take, but take mostly academic classes when possible.
Good AP classes to take if they have them:
Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, English (either)

Thank you for replying. I am in all Gifted Classes and am 3 years up in math(will be doing Honors Pre-Cal as a Freshmen). I think I am prepared for AP, but is it possible to get in A in All AP’s while doing an extracurricular activity(high school sport)? If it is, how?

Probably. Depends on how hard your school is and how much time you have to spend on the sport. But plenty of people succeed in many AP classes and multiple extracurriculars.

ok and I am planning on taking AP COMPUTER SCIENCE A online in 10th grade. Do you have any experience of the rigors of this class? Do you recommend taking the introductory class to AP CS A (Computer applications, which isn’t required)?

Okay, just saying, you should probably calm down a little, high school should also be fun.

Latin is a dead language. With the influx of immigrant coming into the US, Spanish is helpful, when applying to college, and when finding a job.

Don’t load up on AP classes your freshman year (is that even possible? in my school it wasn’t). Especially since you are advanced in classes. As a freshman, I was in Advanced in math 2 years, Science in 1. It was kind of hard, to be quite honest, along with all honors classes, and an AP, when I just came from middle school. If I were you, I would keep it to one or two AP classes.

To get A’s, you just have to study, and do your work. It is possible. While I never did any sport, I was in marching band, which is a freaking nightmare. Plus leadership position in 3 clubs.

Junior year, 3 AP classes, with marching band, which kept me in school every day until 6, plus Saturdays, and club duties. You just have to study whenever you can. It’s hard and stressful.

Stick with Spanish for your language if you only want to take Latin to help your SAT score. Idk about others but I didn’t even give the SAT a thought in 9th grade, so if you start prepping now you don’t have to waste a class every semester. You seem really bright because I’m a junior and your taking the same math class as me so you should be able to get a great score with a little effort.

I will stick with Spanish; thank you very much for your thoughts on that. Do you have an idea for my AP Computer Science A question?

I am taking AP US Government in 9th grade, honors(bio,pre-cal,lit), and on-level Spanish( I don’t see the point in taking honors)

Are you enjoying your childhood? If so why worry so much about the ninth grade? The older you get the more difficult life becomes. BTW a difficulty that cannot be quantified by equation or tamed by the mere taking of a test. Anyway to answer your question, a Doctor will need the occassional use of Latin in study. (Primum non nocere)

I’m very much enjoying my childhood( yes, I have friends and I am succeeding in sports & school). I’m “worried” about high school because that prepares me for college and subsequently, real life.

REPOST OF QUESTION- I am planning on taking AP COMPUTER SCIENCE A online in 10th grade(or at school in 11th). Do you have any experience of the rigors of this class? Do you recommend taking the introductory class to AP CS A (Computer applications, which isn’t required)? I type around 100 WPM, without looking at the keyboard.

I don’t think your typing speed has anything to do with AP Computer Science, but it might help to have some previous programming experience.
But I’ve never taken it, so I don’t really know.

What I meant to say by that is in Computer Apps, the focus is on Keyboarding, Internet, Publishing/Spreadsheets, etc. With my typing abilities and prior experience, I was wondering if I should still take this class in preparation for AP Computer Science A or I should take another educational elective in 9th grade?
