I called a law firm and asked if they were offering any opportunities for high school students, and they said they could surely accomodate one, asking me for a resume. Typically for these sort of internships, what should I include on my resume as a high school student?

GPA? Is my SAT score necessary? I would include my interests, Extracurriculars, and whatnot.. but as a high school student I don't have anything particularly related to law to put down on my resume.

For those who have had experience at a law firm, what "impresses" them, or what do they want to see on a resume?

Also, what is a "courtrunner" and what is the job of one?

GPA, work experience, activities, interests, etc should be included. Do not include SAT scores.

A court runner, depending on what you are doing, is basically a delivery person to the court from the law firm. They will be bringing documents back and forth.

don’t worry about law related experience – i can’t imagine any law firm expecting a hs student to have any. they’re probably just looking for someone smart who can do whatever it is they will ask you to do – don’t expect it to be terribly “law related.”

but this would be a great opportunity for you to get a chance to see what lawyers do, what life at a firm like this is like – don’t expect to learn anything that would help you in law school – its more likely you’ll learn things that are too practical for law school ;). but i think any chance for a prospective law student to learn the realities of what being a lawyer are like is a great opportunity.
