High School Investment Banking Intern Opportunities

I’m a rising sophomore living near the Boston area. I’m interested in majoring in econ and was looking for an internship opportunity over the summer. I wanted to apply for the JP Morgan high school internship program but that is located in New York. Does anyone know of internship opportunities like that in MA? By the way, this is actually for my summer of junior year as I am aware that most high school investment banking internships are available to rising seniors. It would be great if someone could help me out!

It really, really, really helps to know someone in an IB company as a highschooler.

The slots companies have for highschoolers, if any, are extremely limited. Those JP Morgan positions are SUPER competitive and are designed more as a community outreach and/or diversity program than a true internship. If you look at JP Morgan’s advice for highschoolers, they actually don’t mention a single thing about interning during HS – just about getting into college and then applying for a summer program (http://careers.jpmorgan.com/student/jpmorgan/careers/us/advice/hs).

Employers much prefer college students, and even the competition for those slots is extremely fierce.

Again my best advice is track down some family friend who can get you some summer job as a gopher. Companies simply do not have enough incentive to be offering positions to highschool students.
