My sophomore year sucked. I was suspended for 2 days in sophomore year for a facebook cheating ring. A classmate took pictures of a test we were allowed to look at for the period and posted them online. He convinced me to help him answer the questions and post the answers only. Out of the 2 euro classes in our year, 39/50 people joined the group. I have learned from my mistake.

My AP Scores are as follows- Ap euro (4) ap chem (3)
As of now, i only took sat subjects. Math 2 (640) Chem (630) World History (610)

I am now in junior year. here is the list of classes im taking.
AP Calc AB
AP US
AP English Lang
AP Bio
H Physics (yes. 2 science classes this year)
AP Psychology
AP Comparative Govt
Musical theater (hahaha. i need a year of performing arts for graduation)
Cooking

I am 95 % sure that i can get an A in these classes. as of now the lowest grade i have is in ap psychology and thats a 89%. :)

I am also in cabinet for beta club, i am founder and president of arab-persian club, and a devoted member of many other clubs. My volunteering hours are normal.

Can anyone tell me if there's a possibily of me being admitted to any ivy???

Thanks.

Low Grades, Low Test Scores, Low Chances but with a 2200 + and URM i would say Low Reach

do you know how my chances would be effected if i applied early decision?

Read the Dartmouth admissions websites and blogs for more information.

Chances threads aren’t very useful beyond telling you whether or not you’re in the middle quartiles for SAT scores/GPA. Dartmouth and most other highly selective colleges use a holistic review where your personal circumstances, characteristics, opportunities, and achievements are reviewed in their context. No one on CC can give you accurate chances for any of the selective schools. Asking us to do so is not productive.

thanks. i understand that. btw. at the end of freshman year, i was tied for 16 out of 875 in our graduating class. at the end of sophomore year, it dropped to 58 out of 883 :(. hopefully by the end of junior year, it will go back up to top 40. yes. its a really big school.

I don’t think your chances are good, even if you are an URM. Sorry.

Getting straight As this year, plus two SATIIs over 750 and an SATI in the 2300 range or ACT of 34+ might turn things around.

BTW, what do you mean “applying as African American”? From which country did your family immigrate? It sounds as if you are a person of Arab descent who is trying to pass themselves off as “black” in order to get into what they think would be a better URM pool.

my college/career counselor at our school told me to apply as african-american. i am full moroccan!

You may be more “diverse” as a Moroccan-American immigrant than as an AA. Claiming to be AA may come back to bite you.

so what should i list under race?

If you’re Moroccan, I would apply as African American, unless you were born to fully French parents living in Morocco or something.

Well, I don’t claim to be an expert in racial matters, to put it mildly, but this article in wikipedia is interesting:

[Demographics of Morocco - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Demographics of Morocco - Wikipedia)

IMHO, in the USA “African American” strongly implies “black” or–in terms of the wikipedia article–“sub-saharan african.” I would gather than you are a member of the Arab/Berber majority in Morocco. Just having been born on the continent of Africa does not make one “African American” in US terms. (Egyptians, white South Africans, Boers, and Indian South Africans and Ugandans being other examples of this.)

One thing this does is highlight how bizarre our racial classifications and everything that surrounds them can be!

But anyway, I would consider checking “other” and specifying Arab/Berber or Moroccan if there is an opportunity to do so. Assuming that that is what you are, of course.

thank you. yes. both of my parents are natives. my dad is full arab and mom is half arab half berber.
