High School Junior considering ED, but...

Hey. I'm new to this forum, so if there is a similar thread that can answer my questions please redirect me,and I'll gladly delete this post.

I am considering applying to Cornell via Early Decision. I know that Early Decision is binding, and I am willing to stick to my choice and attend cornell with no regrets. But, the thing that I am worried about is, if i get in via ED, am i guaranteed for financial aid? I don't want to have to take out 50 grand worth of loans each year.

I am told by my guidance counselor that my stats are sufficient for cornell and that i just have to write a killer essay, so money is the problem here.

my family's financial status:
single-working parent.
$25,000 yearly
$200 in food stamps
2 parents, 2 children (including me)
less than $12,000 in assets (savings account, does not own car or house)
rent house
get $7,000 back in tax returns

please reply with some feedback. thanks in advance.

Any school where you are accepted ED will allow you to back out if their financial aid offer isn’t sufficient for you to be able to afford to go there. However, Cornell is very generous with its financial aid for families with income under $60K. You can read about this here: [Financial Aid Initiatives | Financial Aid](Financial Aid Initiatives | Financial Aid)

You are expected to earn about $2500 over the summer before you begin college to contribute to your own education. But if there is nothing else in your financial situation other than what you have listed above, you should get the rest covered by grants.
