High School Junior Requesting Assistance

<p>Hello CC Veterans and Trolls,</p>

<p>I am a rising Junior in high school (which you should already know if you can read, if not, continue on looking at your monitor sideways and looking at the shapes my words form much like clouds) and am in need of some assistance in building my "resume" for when I apply to college in over a year. Below you should find my current (read: completed in the past ten minutes while eating a fourth meal) stats and general notes about me. By all means, this is not a comprehensive list that stretches to the outer corners of my academic career, but encompasses most of what I feel is important to everyone here. I also hope you forgive me for any mispellings as I am typing on my iPad.</p>

<p>Scores: Keep in mind that this is the first time I have taken the SAT and I scored a 2160 without any studying (or preparation whatsoever).</p>

<p>This is copied directly from the stats profile, so I hope it has everything. I have not taken any SAT IIs as I feel it is too early and don't want to receive a poor grade due to lack of preparation. </p>

<p>What I am looking for in response..
1) Any suggestions on how to stand out from the crowd, what I can improve on over the next year (I am currently looking to become a Congressional U.S Page and go to Residential Summer Governor's School next Summer).
2) Any suggestions on what else I should include when applying
3) Finding other students like me (networking) and building a group that I can stay in touch with and see how we all do when college applications fall into place.
4) I am only a Junior, which precludes me from being involved in everything (such as an officer in most clubs or NHS).</p>

<p>The colleges included are not the only two I am considering, though Harvard has been my dream school for a while, not just the name, and the more I look into Dartmouth, the more I like it. </p>

<p>With that kind of SAT math I don’t see Harvard or Dartmouth. And being val, considering your school doesn’t send many to top schools, doesn’t mean much either. Hopefully you’ll also be taking SAT IIs which are required for the schools you’re applying to. Mentioning “Best Looking Page” and “Best Dressed Page” as an activity seems trollish. You might have leadership, but SATs are the killer.</p>

<p>Oh, I definitely plan on retaking the entire SAT and actually studying this time. This first time was just a benchmark for myself to see what is possible for myself. I was joking when I mentioned those oage awards, yoy have to put some humor into the admissions process.</p>

<p>Like I said, i’m just going into my Junior year now, opso of course i’ll be taking SAT IIs, they’ll just be at the end of this year.</p>

<p>Alright I don’t know about Virginia but in California if you make odp you’re gonna get recruited everywhere it’s ridiculous and intense and so hard to make. I know a girl on odp from my old club team before I quit. she’s a grade above us (I’m the same grade as you) and as soon as junior year ended she got picked up by Stanford. So I don’t know what the status of odp is in Virginia but you should be able to be recruited?</p>

<p>About the other stuff, assuming you get your sat above 2200 and have high 700 sat II scores you’re gonna get in to good places, and probably at least one or two ivys even without recruitment. You have great leadership in good EC’s. </p>

<p>One more thing, if you do odp and club soccer, how can you just take off and do the page program next summer? Just curious, I ended up quitting club soccer at the end of freshman year because of the insane time commitment and I could never go anywhere over summer.</p>
