J-dom - the other schools on your list from NC are private so moving won't matter. If you are a junior, make sure it is not too late for your freshman year - I believe they will look at the 2006 tax returns for the initial determination and you have to be there a full year.

from what I read on the alumni website, they consider a resident as someone who has been physically present for 12 months in the state. But you may have a good point about the tax returns for 2006. I'll check it out. thanks for the heads up!

1 choice: Barnard College!!

i haven't looked too much into safeties / matches (i'm so smitten with barnard), but i think some of these look kinda practical once i get my SAT scores up.

NYU, Brown, Columbia, Smith, Northwestern...

this site is so intimidating. clearly every member on here is among the best of the best students... so i'll try not to get my dreams killed...

Impossible: Stanford (I'm just applying for the heck of it through Questbridge)
Reaches: UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego
Matches: UC Davis, UC Irvine, San Jose State

Planned major: Computer Science or Electrical Engineering?

I need to raise my GPA and my SAT/ACT scores...

University of Illinois

My list

University of Chicago (EA)
Dartmouth
Yale
Johns Hopkins
Georgetown
Emory
Vanderbilt
Boston College
Brandeis
UC: Berkeley, LA, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz

1 Choice: Columbia ED

Everything else will be based upon my ED decision (well, I have to apply to UFlorida as my safety on Nov 1 also bc that's their new deadline)

Everything else is a 2nd choice:
UChicago
NYU
Georgetown
Barnard
Stanford
I would consider BC, BU, Berkeley, Emory, Northwestern and others if I don't get accepted Columbia ED, but everything is contingent on that decision

My safety is definitely UMich (I'm in state- and UMBrian, I would love to go there if I got in, so I wouldn't take your spot because I'm applying for the heck of it).

However, I will also be submitting my name for the annual dice games at:
MIT
Princeton
UChicago
ND (4th generation legacy... I happen to be Irish)

By the way, guys, if you haven't already, get your stats profiles up and running. It'll help all of us out next fall and help those of us currently deciding where to apply to get a look at other people considering these schools.

Oh, and I'm going to major in Biology and hopefully do either another degree in the classics or focus on Latin. I'm really into languages, so it would be awesome to do Linguistics at MIT, too (there seem to be a lot of us linguistics people here. Cool beans.).

One last thing. Depending on where I end up, I'll either be recruited for lacrosse or be part of the sailing club/team.

My list as of right now:

I'd rather go to:
Swarthmore
UPenn
Amherst
Barnard
Brown University

But these would be alright, too:
Dartmouth
Wash U
Northwestern
Columbia
Cornell
Sarah Lawrence
