Are there any colleges that limit the number of students accepted from a certain high school? Say 5 of my friends got into a school, does that give me a less chance? I've been a little confused about this..

anyone? bump

This isn't definite, but at my school, top colleges usually accept a similar number of students each year. Depending on the overall size of the institution, college x for example takes around 7 students a year from our school (which is a recurring ivy feeder), regardless of whether 35 or 63 students apply that year.
My information is based on statistics from Naviance, btw.
Sooooo - I've made it my mission to try to convince all my class mates to refrain from applying to schools I'm applying to! So far, no luck... lol

Good luck

I have to agree. Just looked at the stats for my school, and roughly the same number of people get into each college each year.

Im just wondering if adcoms really consider your high school and then think, "Oh, we've already accepted a few from there" :/

If you're qualified, I'd doubt they'll go, "Oh, we already got 5 from this school, we can't take anymore."
Say College usually accepts 15 from your school. I think they'd pick around the same number for this year, probably like the top 14-17ish maybe. And by top, I don't mean the highest SAT scores or highest GPA.
If they find that many from your school fit what they want, they might even accept up to like 20 something.
Btw this is just an example.

I hear ya Hope101, ALL my friends applied to the same school I want to go to..

While colleges will deny it, anyone who has been to a highly competitive NYC private school will tell you that yes, they have limits! In years past everyone from certain private schools headed to an ivy but that's no longer the case. And the problem from highly competitive schools where everyone wants the same 15 colleges is that there are a ton of legacies, competitive athletes and development candidates.

eh, I just hope I have a chance. The thing is, my friends were all nominated for a scholarship (and their admissions had to be sent on the ED date). I just sent mine in for ED2. Seeing as their all smarter than me and have better ECs...I just hope they'll forget about it. I'm guessing they also want a diversity from different states.
