High School Math Internship?

Is it possible? I know at the RSI level, there are mentors who work with math students on projects, interships and the like. However, I'm only a sophomore, and I have a year before I can apply to RSI. I'm considering camps like SUMaC and PROMYS next summer, but I was some more personal experience, rather than classes, because I get enough of that during the school year. Is there a way for me to get an internship with a professor doing research or some company? Do I just e-mail around to professors?

Oh, I forgot to mention, even though I'm young, I feel like I'm qualified to work with professors on math. By June, I will have completed AP Calc BC and AP Stats, and I have a crude working knowledge of Visual Basic and HTML. I also have some sort of connections, because my dad was a math PhD at Stanford, but I'm not sure Stanford would be willing to accept a sophomore as a... helper-outer-person. :)
