Hi, please help with the following issue:
I have been plagued in my receiving of the hardest AP English Language teacher at school. The chances of getting an A, no matter good one can be, are about nil and next to zero. (As you can see, I am a junior.) My courses were the following:
AP English Language, AP Physics B, AP U. S. History, AP Biology, AP Statistics, and AP Physics C.
(This is the order in periods too.) I have just changed my courses to the following:
AP Spanish, AP Physics B, AP U. S. History, AP Biology, AP Statistics, and AP Physics C.

As you guys can see, I essentially took out AP Language and replaced it with AP Spanish Language. I am now taking AP English Language at a credit program that my high school will allow to put in my high school GPA, provided that I send my transcript before each semester ends (which I of course will). So far, I have 2 B's (or 1, depending on whether my B in a course from San Diego State counts. It was still taken at high school though, but indirectly, it was p. 5 from before. Anyways, if I decide not to send that grade, then it doesn't count (i think). so that makes it hopefully 2 B's). Nevertheless, taking that teacher at my school pretty much guarantees 2 more B's. (Students in the past with 2400's have gotten B's with that teacher so.....) My aim is to get into Harvard Princeotn Yale... With this in mind, what should I do? I can still switch back to AP English but with that teacher... sigh. Please help :(

Most of the heavy weight of the question depends on what classes you received a B in. I understand you received college credit for a class you received a B in but it would help to know which class. Some classes offered for college credit are relatively easy whereas some can be challenging, allowing most colleges to allow a B or two. From here, we can decide whether or not AP English Language is worth it.

If you’re willing to pay $400/semester to take AP English Language online at Florida Virtual School, it could be a potential solution to your issue. (It’s probably the cheapest option out there.)

It is UC approved (check <a href=“A-G Policy Resource Guide”>A-G Policy Resource Guide) and should fulfill your high school graduation requirements. Taking it online should also guarantee an easy A and you could even drop AP Spanish because that class is impossible and quite honestly a waste of time because most teachers won’t prepare you well for the exam. You’d be better off lightening your schedule load a little bit with a free period (for your online class). 7 AP classes is excessive, and 3 AP Science courses is preposterous. Are you planning to graduate high school in 3 years?

From what I’ve read, you seem like a very dedicated student if not too dedicated. However, dropping out of your school AP English classs just because of a teacher is, to say the least, questionable. Maybe you should consider going back to your school english class. All AP English teachers should teach with the same rigor and grades should reflect the effort of the student, not the difficulty of the teacher. In addtion, you should lessen your course load. Taking 3 science classes is a bit much isn’t it? Why are you taking C and B at the same time?
