High school posts college acceptances/scholarships

I don't go for the idea of a board publicizing where each student was admitted and/or accepted. I'm not sure there's any formal recognition at our school concerning where the seniors will be next fall: I guess I'll find out in a few months, eh? :) I do like to know where students were accepted, though, so I like the method sybbie describes, similar to what our school does.

They publish a list of the colleges where seniors were accepted (and are expected to attend), with the number of students admitted and a total amount in scholarship offered. They don't ever use specific students' names. In the school profile, there is a page listing the schools where students were admitted, with a "headcount"; the schools where graduates are currently attending are highlighted.

Last year's list is here: <a href="http://www.harker.org/announcements/2003_2004/college_acceptances.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.harker.org/announcements/2003_2004/college_acceptances.htm</a></p>

At my HS you can post your acceptance/scholarship/enlistment letters on a board by the cafeteria with your Senior picture. It's all optional.

Mootmom,
I really like how your school shows a track record so that they can look at 3 years worth of admissions, and how the school growth has affected the admissions process.

At my public school, they had a outline of a face to trace onto construction paper, and you take 2 colors for your school, and decorate it how you want, and put it up in the senior "subschool" (where all the senior lockers are). It's nice, colorful, and you can see where other people are going. It's fun to see more and more pop up as the year goes on. No one is obligated to make one.

Other information is collected, including the college decision from every school you applied to, SAT score, GPA, # of advanced classes taken, gender, and race, and compiled in a book for future students. This book has no names, but you can figure out who some people are if you know something about them, such as they got a 1560 and there was only 1560 listed, you can find out their info, but other than that, it's a really good tool for the students who come later to see where people with stats like themselves went to school / got in / didn't get in.

Soccerguy - the construction paper faces sounds like a great tradition. Fun.

i like how my kids' school does this. on the graduation program kids have the option of listing college, armed forces, direct to work.it lets everyone who wants to tell what they will be doing, do so. as a parent, i enjoy seeing what all the kids will be doing.
