High School Program as an Incoming Junior?

Hey, everyone. I’m a sophomore in high school, and Tisch is my number one school at the moment. I’ve been considering apply for the high school summer program for a while now, but a few things have been keeping me back, such as the fact that I know I won’t be able to attend unless I get a full ride scholarship, as I have only one parent, and I know upcoming seniors are given preference. I feel like it might be more beneficial for me to wait and apply next year. However, I’m ready to start growing as an artist. I don’t think there’s ever a moment when you’re truly “ready” for something, there’s just the moment where you choose to take a risk or you choose not to – and I think I’m ready to scare myself.

In addition, I’m also scared that if I did, in theory, get accepted and not offered financial aid, I’d decline and that would hurt my chances when it comes to actually applying for college. But I’m prepared to take a risk.

What do you all think? Thanks so much for your help.

Are you going to need a full ride for college as a whole? That is not a common thing at NYU- even with demonstrated need

Hey there! Thanks for the reply. In regards to your question, no, I am not looking for a full ride to college as a whole.

I think that if you apply for summer and don’t get aide (and therefore can’t go) you can always apply again for after junior year. Shouldn’t hurt you at all

Apply! I applied as a rising junior, and I got waitlisted then rejected. Someone dropped out, so I got off the waitlist. Preference is given to seniors, but there were 3 juniors with me in my studio. I highly recommend applying. Rejecting their offer will not hurt your chances; however, I will admit: attending the summer program will help your chances for undergraduate admission.

TIsch Schol of the Arts is $75,000 per year, which includes room and meal plans. We have heard of scholarships ranging from $30,000 to full ride. Full ride was only one person and extremely rare. THey are generous with the loans though!

Hey did you ever apply? If so did you get accepted? Im a rising junior and I got accepted with a full ride to the prgram. I’m going for New Studio on Broadway MT.
