High School Records

Would a good college GPA offset a mediocre high school record?

I have a 4.0 from UT Austin, but I made 7 B's in high school (public high school in Houston, 40% go to 4 year colleges). None of my grades were above a 91.

That being said, would my HS transcript diminish my chances of transferring to an ivy?

for a junior xfr--no

for a sophomore xfr-yes

( I am addressing the second way you phrased your question...)

i'm a sohp xfr

If you are a sophmore transfer then high school grades are taken into consideration along with your ACT/SAT. It is possible your 4.0 will help you, but the problem is, they just don't have as many available transfer spots for sophmores so they only take the best. I think if you can keep up your amazing gpa you will definitely be a competitive applicant when junior transfer comes around.

when they say they have 40 spots a year, does that mean soph + junior? that's scary.
