High school schedule help?

Hey, I’m a soon-to-be Junior and I need help on my schedule. I’m a relatively good student, I got like a 3.7 in my freshmen year. Did a little poorly beginning of sophomore year( 3.2 & 3.3) but picked myself back up with a 4.0:) Also I’m looking at schools such as Penn state, Pitt, Northeastern, Tulane, Rutgers, etc.
So far next school year I have(=definitely taking):
AP Language

Pre-calculus(i suck at math :/)*
AP Biology
AP World History*
AP Psychology
Photography 1(Have to take bc I haven’t taken an art class yet)*

Also Senior year I would like to take:
AP Literature*
AP Stats*
AP Euro*
AP Chem
IB Anthropology
Forensics

I’m really on the edge of taking AP Chem, especially senior year with all those other classes but I don’t want to take APES bc I’m not interested in it nor do I think it is challenging enough for me. I’m mainly interested in science and the humanities and I want to go in that direction for college. What would you do in my position? Please feel free to switch, add, take out classes

I think your schedule looks good. APES is probably the easiest AP class and you don’t need it if your gonna take classes like Bio and Chem that are much harder and look better. The only thing I can say is that junior year could be a bit rough in terms of just sheer memorization. Bio, Psych and World History are all gonna require a lot of just memorizing and reading every single night and it could be tough. Although psych is not a hard AP class, it is still a lot of work. If I were you, I would cut out psych so that you can achieve higher scores in the other classes and still have time to get good test scores.

Just a reminder that if you think you want to go into the sciences at all, you have to pick up the math. Get a tutor, self-study yourself, watch some videos on Khan Academy…anything so you can understand the fundamentals.

I would keep the schedules you have written here. Meaning stay with AP Psych and do AP Chem.

You’re missing foreign language level 3&4. I’d switch out ap psych for level3or 4, and if you still need level4, I’d remove either forensics or anthropology.

Agree about switching out AP Psych for another year of language unless you are bi-lingual and have already maxed out your second language in 10th grade.

Just missed the part about the foreign language. Thanks for bringing it up @MYOS1634. Agreed. Swap AP Psych out for Level 3. If you choose to do a fourth year/AP your foreign language and possibly take the Subject Test for it if available (for the schools you are currently looking at, you don’t have to do four years but it’s completely your choice), swap out Forensics.

I already took spanish for 4.5 years. I got low Bs and absolutely hated it. I can’t even imagine doing AP Spanish

Would it be weird to switch ap chem to junior year and bio to senior year? And then take out IB anthropology and put the ap psych in senior year along with bio?

What matters is no the number of years but the level reached - what level of Spanish have you reached?
There’s no order for taking AP science/ AP Chem or AP Bio can be taken when they fit best into your schedule. AP Psych is a popular senior year choice since it’s lighter (giving you a bit of time to work on your applications).

I believe OP just doesn’t have AP Spanish. For the schools on OP’s radar right now, I don’t think it necessary to carry out Spanish if he/she doesn’t want to.

@Lolaj7 It’s not weird at all. The order of taking those is specifically up to you. IB Anthro is a little out of place taking AP Psych would make your load a tad lighter. Although do you actually like IB Anthro and perhaps thinking about studying it more in depth when you get to college?

Yeah I’m pretty interested in it. Also, kinda changing the subject, do you think someone could survive ap chem senior year but pretty much forgetting a good amount of material from sophomore year
