Im graduting with a 3.0 gpa 960 sat score because i really slipped in high school. ... Basically..I had a long talk with my hs counselor which helped me change my views on life. I'm entering either pasadena city college honors or mt sac. honors program and hopefully, eventually transfer to either usc, ucberkely, stanford, nyu, wharton, claremont mckenna. I was wondering what classes i would need to take in order to be able to have a chance to even be considered.

I want to major in business administration and then after that go and get my JDMBA. Yeah i know, i was an idiot during high school but now i am grown up and ready to take on the first challenges of life.

PCC and MTSAC are always too busy to speak to me and the counselors won't even set an appointment with me until I'm registered. I find that kind of stupid because by that time all my classes would have been registered already. If anybody can give me some advice or plan something out for me i'd be greatly appreciative. Just freshman year because i want to start off right away once i get into college.

for the UCs and CSU's you don't need SAT...also I would advise you to have some safeties as most of the ones you listed are not that easy to get into..

You are going to need higher SAT scores for Stanford, NYU (Stern), and Wharton. Im not sure about CMC. Also, Stanford does not have a business major for undergraduates, are you thinking about economics as well? The classes you will probably need are calculus (third semester of calc for Wharton and Stanford), microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial accounting, managerial accounting, and GE's. Go to www.assist.org to find out the specific requirements for UC Berkeley. For the others, you will need to go to the individual school's webpage and try to take comparable courses.

thanks for the inputs. Am i allowed to retake my SAT's even when I'm already out of high school and into college?

Yeah I'm definitely going to have UCSD,UCI,UCR,UCD as my safeties. I thought that colleges don't look at SAT scores when you transfer in as a junior? I guess i should start hitting the SAT books now if i plan on even having a chance for those tier 1 colleges..

It's basically been a year now and I am going to be applying for colleges in November. I can't believe I have actually done most of my goals i made for myself last year.

Just thought you guys who have been helping me all year long would like to know! What do you guys think? Any comments?

I have around 1550 new SAT, do you think retaking it will help me to get into schools like wharton or nyu? Do they even look at SAT's that are taken after high school? Should I just take ACT? and what are the differences between the 2? I heard ACT is easier, should I just take ACT instead? Will that matter?
I will be going to Pasadena CIty College too this fall =)

have you retaken the Sats? Does your honors program have a priority transfer into Pomona? Does Pomona look at high school grades? At UCB are you applying to Haas? Also how hard was it for you to get a 4.0 in community college? I am a year behind you and I would love to know what you have learned.
P.S Good luck on your apps.

It wasn't too difficult getting a 4.0 at my community college because I would always choose the best professors for each class I'm taking. Also, when I say best, I do not mean a professor who just gives out easy A's. I mean a professor who really cares about his students and who is willing to take time out of class to help someone out. I basically have 1 more year to go and with the study skills that I have learned over this past year, I believe maintaining my 4.0 will be relatively easy. I had a really strong social life in HS, but now ever since I started CC, I probably cut my partying, clubbing, going out in half. I still go out every weekend, but from monday- thursday, I am in the library basically all day.

No I haven't. I plan to go to either USC or UCLA since those two schools fit my personality better. I'm just applying to all the other ones to challenge myself and see if I can get in.

azn, thats an inspiring story man, I'm hoping to do the same type of thing only i'm on the east coast. Great story, update so people can know where you get in next year.
