High School Senior That Really Needs Help

Hi, I am a senior in high school and I plan to apply to colleges this October. I have quite a list of schools that I will be applying to. They are not excellent schools, but I would say they are decent. Some include University of Arizona, Indiana Bloomington, Temple, etc. No ivies or anything.

But my issue is what to major in. I am undecided on two majors: Finance, and Management Information Systems. The reason for Finance is because I hear a lot of high paying jobs and good oppurtunities come from a financial job such as an investment banker. I also don't mind the field and have an interest in finance. The reason for Management Information Systems is because I have a high interets in computers and technology. I have a lot of experience with web programming, graphic design, etc. But I do not like to do the real in-depth programming and working with networks, etc. But I like the management/business aspect of the major.

Should I do a major/minor of the two? I've been also told it's good to study Economics in college. Is it the same as Business Managerial Economics?

I would like a city job that is not impossible for me to get. I plan to get my MBA someday. I am aware of the steps (work experience, GMAT, etc.). I would also like to study something that will get me a job paying over $100,000 a year without having to start my own business.

How does MIS compare to Finance? I really need help with this because I will be applying to colleges within the next 1-2 months and I need to apply to schools that have my intended major. I will most likely stay on the East Coast if I am studying Finance, but I might move out west (I'm currently in Pennsylvania) if I plan to study and get a job in Management Information Systems.

I've also seen that MIS is listed as a business major, as a matter of fact I am in a business major this year in high school and we have a unit on Information Management.

I did a lot of research through the topics on this board, and many of my questions are now solved. I really need opinions and would like to know what are the best things for me in what jobs are possible to get and about getting my MBA and also about what to Major and Minor in college. I am not studying these fields just for the money, although I want to study something that will make me good money. I am studying these because I have a very strong interest in business, as well as technology.

PS - I would also like to study a major that will give me better chances with recruiting, internships, and MBA chances. I have not yet seen someone talking about an internship related to MIS.

I would recommend the MIS. The reason I say so is that a MIS degree will make you a much more well rounded student in the fastest growing field in the USA. Plus, you can probably find time to minor in economics or finance to gain the most essential finance skills.

In MIS you should have no trouble finding a job. Though, the schools you listed don't ring any bells for MIS. Maybe Indiana, but Purdue should be considered also.

Then in the MBA world you can usually major in a couple subject so you could do both MIS and Finance. I would suggest looking into major corporations for internships to find which you really like more (good programs Citigroup, JPMorgan, General Electric, etc...).
