High School Senior Year Scholarships

I will be a senior next year and I do not think I will get any need-based aid. I wanted to know of some scholarships/web sites that are for incoming seniors in high school. It would be nice for some of the scholarships to be based on gpa or academics rather than random skills or sports. Please post any scholarships that seem easier to win or worth applying for. Thanks!

That’s called merit aid.

I understand that ma’am, but I was looking for specific scholarships that people have had success with or are applying to from companies such as Wal-Mart or Coca-Cola. If you have any ideas or a list it would be much appreciated

Google is your friend - as in “merit aid”

Trusty…

If you need merit scholarships, then you need to apply to the SCHOOLS that give them.

Private scholarships are often for SMALL amounts and only for freshman year. So, that’s not going to pay for college. Private scholarships (if you’re lucky to win a couple) often just help with frosh year books and stuff.

What are your stats?

Here’s a link to ASSURED scholarships for stats from various colleges. Be sure to check to see if the scholarships are current. I know that some schools change their scholarships each year.

Thanks, this list will come in handy! I will continue to search google but I understand the school’s scholarships are my best bet. Thanks again

Talk to your school’s guidance counselor or the secretary to ask about scholarships available in your community, from sources like the Lion’s Club or other organizations. My daughter receives one from a community foundation, one that’s available to members of our religious denomination who live in our county, and one from a company that I worked for when she was a senior in high school. They add up to $7,000 a year which is very much appreciated.

That sounds like a good idea, I will have to check into it with my counselor next fall, but I agree. I think that is the way to go!
