Wish I could continue to play soccer but I have a bad heart :(.

^Can I ask what you have? My sister has Long QT Syndrome and can’t play sports either.

I have a taccichardia (is that how you spell it, idk) where when I excercise, the signal from my brain to my heart doesn’t get stopped and it goes around the loop again. So my heart beats faster and faster until I faint. Hence my inability to play soccer (worse, I played midfield). I can take medicine that would impede the signal but I found that it didn’t work very well.

Luckily I can still snowboard. And I apologize for explaining my medical condition in extensive detail :)

I don’t mind, I was just curious because my sister’s condition is very rare. She has to be very careful. You know how sometimes they have stories about people who have just dropped dead while playing a sport on the news? That’s what my sister has. Basically, anything that causes stress has to be avoided; no sports, nothing that’ll scare her, no swimming in cold water, no fireworks, no alarm clock; basically, nothing that could scare/surprise her.

Wow, that must be really hard on her.

I have to ask though, how does she handle stress caused by tests and classes?

More than half of my school plays a sport. I play Varsity golf with on the boys team. I’ve never been cut and I’m going to be a senior.

I played varsity golf freshman year. Jv track (100 m dash) sophomore year. Varsity golf junior year. Never been cut from a team, my track coaches told me to continue running because they thought I had potential. They guaranteed me a spot on varsity which is unusual since I’m Asian. People were always surprised to see the Asian dude beating all the black guys (I took 1st for all but two regular season meets). I quit track to go back to golf because golf is more useful later in life, especially since I’m doing business.
I play basketball, football, soccer (occasionally), and whatever else we want to play outside of school.

What do you play?JV Football(Hopefully Varsity soon), JV Track
Are you on JV, Frosh, Varsity? JV
Ever been cut from a team? Yeah, got cut from Basketball 7th and 8th grade. I didnt really take it seriously and hated the drills. I like just playing in a park
Do you play something outside of school?
What grade are you in? Going to be a Sophomore

She was homeschooled this year (8th grade for her) because she was diagnosed last June. She says she wants to try high school, so my parents are going to let her. She’s on medication and that’s doing its job. (She may need a pacemaker later though.)

What do you play? Golf
Are you on JV, Frosh, Varsity? Varsity
Ever been cut from a team? No
Do you play something outside of school? No
What grade are you in? 11

I don’t really practice though lol. xD

Soccer and tennis (Although I’ve seriously been slacking on the former)
Trying out for JV this fall
Nope.
Tennis, soccer
grade not revealed…:)

I also have a medical problem that has previously kept me from sports and the fact that my parents never really encouraged them (or discouraged them) and never involved me in any. I’m a rising sophomore and hopefully I’ll get JV Tennis or XC (I’m not good at either but I’m starting tennis workouts next week with the team, and xc has no cuts), JV Swim team and then JV Track (though theres not a big distinction between varsity and JV in these three sports at my school)

I’ve been running (every other day… but I try for every day) for the past few weeks and really enjoy it. I’m super slow (11:30 mile maybe? havent timed it, but my average pace for 3 miles is a little over that so I’m guessing my mile time is better), but I like it and would love to become a ‘runner’. Been running 3 mile runs so far and maybe I’ll be good enough for the team (not competitively but just so I’m not the slowest on the team) come fall. I dont do anything out of school (besides biking and now running)

My problem only surfaced in about 7th grade. I could run the mile (7:30) and do sprints but anything sustained would cause me to collapse. XC would kill me. Maybe I should try sprints.

Planning to do cross-country all 4 years! 2 more years baby~
I’m not gonna do soccer anymore though… mainly because I don’t have enough time AND everyone else at my school has been playing soccer since they were in elementary. (I started freshman year )

lol no I stink at sports
