High School Sports

I had a pretty general question about high school sports: How do colleges view it? Or rather, what do they place value on? Now obviously they would value potential recruits to their schools, but what about talented varsity athletes who just aren't interested in pursuing the sport at a collegiate level? Would they take note of the fact that these students have been successful, or take little regard of their endeavors. I'm mainly concerned about this because one of my main extracurriculars is tennis. I've been on our varsity team for 4 years, captained for 2, taught tennis at summer camps for 2-3 years and ultimately played for 11-12 years of my life. While I love the game, I'm just not interested in pursuing it further, but I really hope colleges can see what I've done

I have 3 kids - only one pursued their HS activity in college - the other two did not. They all got into good schools, so I have to think that the adcoms did take note of their HS activities. My D is REALLY happy she changed sports - she got to travel all over Europe with her new sport, instead of just the US. And it was a lot less time committment. Good luck - enjoy!
