I really don’t know what I’m going to do when I grow up; it depends on what college I’m going to, my sat score, my parents’ financial situation. For a few years I’ve been thinking about: dentistry; programming; software development, biochemistry jobs; these are all careers in very different fields. Do my high school subjects really matter to my future goal jobs? Right now I’m taking IB Bio, IB math SL1, IB chemSL2. The problem is none of these have anything to do with computer programming or software development. If you have any suggestions, please share. Thank you and sorry for my bad English.
For dentistry, nothing from high school matters. When it comes to applying to dental school, they only care about what you have done while in college and beyond. However, the name of your undergrad institution will matter to some extent, so definitely challenge yourself academically while in high school so that you can get into a reputable university.
If Dental school is your goal, take the science basics: Biology/Chemistry/Physics plus Psychology along with any classes needed for HS graduation. Having prior exposure to the material will help you succeed in your college courses.
If you want to major in science, why are you not taking the science classes at the HL level?
