High School Transcript needed for Graduate School's Application?

No (10char)

The one that I want to go to requires it. I need to prove that I have 3 years of foreign language at my high school so I don’t need to take it in graduate school. I don’t know…

not even for the top graduate schools?

No, not even for top graduate schools.

I didn’t need it for any of my applications.

What?! What graduate school required HS transcript? If a program said 3 years of foreign language it means at COLLEGE level. One year of college foreign language = 3 years of HS foreign language.

I can’t think of any graduate school that would actually ask for a high school transcript. What are you supposed to do–go back to your old high school after 4 years of college so that graduate admissions can look at your academic performance from 5-8 years ago? Lol.

Look, Princeton! I got an A in my PE class when I was 14! :)

Actually, it says I need a year of foreign language in college or 3 years of foreign language in high school for this education graduate school. I never took foreign language in college, but I do have three years of foreign language in high school. That’s why I need to somehow send my high school transcript to the graduate school.

Doesn’t your college require some kind of foreign language? Is there any kind of notation on your transcript that says that you’ve satisfied that requirement? Can you speak with that grad school and say that you took 3 years of that language but didn’t take it in college and is there another way besides sending a high school transcript to demonstrate your ability?

More importantly, do you still possess the language knowledge from high school? Depending on your field, you will likely need additional language training early in graduate school.

I took 3 years of Spanish in high school. My college’s engineering program does not require any foreign language. I do not remember anything from high school (it’s been 4 years since I took Spanish). I can demonstrate my ability with CLEP or some other test but I don’t think I can even pass.

Not in my experience for top programs in CS, but I can see how proving a language requirement could bring it up, as stated above.
